capital of Cretaria sits the royal palace. There resides Emperor Dal Narciss III
and his chief commander of the Army, Gilda along with the most of the Cretarian
The palace is a large structure of metal and stone with a rather curious architecture. Indeed, the entire place almost seems like a metal shop teacher's nightmare. It is quite a change of pace from the Arabian-esque citys of El-Hazard. The Cretaria capital has long roads on which ground based vehicles travel. The housing seems patterned after the eastern European housing and one could mistake Cretaria for a place such as Russia or Bulgaria during the Cold War.
Inside the grand and cavernous halls are vast chambers for everything and anything from dining halls to hot baths. The palace even has its own "Shinonome Diner." The palace acts as a barracks for the military and the palace has large storage areas for weapons and supplies.
Crime is punished severely. In Floristica, one is merely thrown in the dungeons. In Cretaria one is tossed into a hanging cell that is then sent out, via a system of cables and pulleys, and is left out in the elements. Cages with frozen corpses make for an unpleasant view.
Finally, located in the deeper bowels of the castle is a power plant that supplies power to the capital and is where the mysterious Spring of Life is located. This device is responsible for Cretaria's prosperity and has led to conflict with Cretaria's neighbor nations like Volcania and Coctura.
