Bloody hell, it's Erin!

Erin, the legendary originator of the first El-Hazard mailing list! Erin, who worked out that the Eye of God's genetic inheritance pattern was mitochondrial!

So yeah... hi, Erin!

Dooky!! Wow! You're alive, too? ;) (I am totally playing innocent; I've been lurking on that Shoujo-Ai forum for longer than I'd like to admit, so I've seen you around :))

How are you? Legendary me? Hah!! You're quite the celebrity here yr'self, my fiancee Charlie was telling me about your great site just the other day. But, he is a raving, insane, frothing-at-the-mouth Alielle and Fatora fanboy, so I figured he would like it. :) *notes Charlie hoarding your Alielle and Fatora artwork and shakes head*

See, I knew you back when you were just this guy who...was a big Fatora fan, and...wrote Fatora fanfiction, and...*thinks* I guess you haven't changed THAT much. ;)

Nice to see you again. :)

*note that she is still alive*

Okay folks...I've been working on a fiction with a cross over with El Hazard... you can find it by doing a search for Point of Origin on Fanfiction.net under the Naruto fanfictions.

Finally updated the El-Hazard fan-fiction links list.  Fixed broken Pit Of Voles links and MediaMiner.org links, and added more recent stories from those two archives, some links I had found over the past year or so, and a couple of links that other folks kindly forwarded to me recently.

The missing stories are now at the bottom of the list.  We got one back, but we lost four more.  Help!!

Enjoy!  The fan-art list is next, when I can get around to it...

I was able to contact two of the people that dropped off the list. Both of them deleted their own works, they said they thought that the stories were bad, and one said that she only writes yaoi now. *rolls eyes*

Sorry, Yuri writers I can deal with... Anime lends itself to the medium. But Yaoi writers are generally a bunch of whacked out little high school girls with too much pent up sexual curiosity and confustion. The idea that you'd delete your own work just because it doesn't have a bunch of gay guys running around trying to get each other in bed... just stupid.

Oh well... some people.

How's that exactly, compared to the opposite?

Wow... That's quite a double standard! I agree that your assessment may have been true in the past, but today's anime certainly lends itself just as much to yaoi as it does to yuri. I can name six or seven shows just off the top of my head that have hordes of sexually ambiguous pretty-boy males in leading roles (even in anime that's supposed to be aimed primarily toward a male audience!), and the producers are rarely shy about throwing in little tidbits for the "rabid fangirls" to latch onto. They know what sells.

I would also question your implied assumption that most male yuri fans are any less "whacked out" and "sexually pent up". Saying so is like implying men read Playboy for the articles. ::) Guys don't write yuri fanfics because they consider it high literature. They do it 'cause they wanna see hot chicks gettin' it on without all that male nastiness getting in the way. Female Yaoi writers have similar motivation. One might argue that they are, in fact, more mature than male yuri writers, since they tend to focus more on the romance and character interaction more than the hawt sexx0r, whereas men regard the romance and character interaction is just a regretable formality which needs to be rushed through, or even skipped altogether to get to the good stuff.

(I need a Dooky disclaimer here: The above are generalizations, and don't necessarily apply to all yaoi and/or yuri fans and writers. There are, of course, exceptions to pretty much all things.)

I'm not a fan of yaoi OR yuri, but I'm certainly not deluded enough to think that either medium is "superior" or "more sensible" than the other!

Now there's some interesting reading material.  I never really looked into gender-typing on the outer part as it actually flows into the yaoi / yuri stuff.  I think Spanner's right.

... and it just kind of arose my curiosity, Spanner, did you ever tell me how you came up with that name exactly?

I may have. I don't remember. Here's a hint: Spanner is the name of a very obscure character from a semi-obscure comic book back in the 80's. Can you figure it out? ^_^V

I don't have anything to add to the original topic or the current off-topic discussion.  I just wanted to commend Bob on his latest user-picture and administrative persona.

Haha, awesome.  "We remember her real name" as well.   ^_^V  (Sorry the avatar is momentarily out; I'll have to kick that server when I get home... or just stop using it.)

... you don't see it here, but on another forum I frequent, "P.S. Ayumu Kasuga" is in my forum signature as well.  If you don't mind, I'm going to simply have to add your little image to that as well.

As for "Spanner" up there... I'm only 22, so the 80's weren't exactly my prime... and I didn't really get into comics much... so... I couldn't guess.   ^^;

To be honest, I wouldn't expect the guy to come to mind even if you HAD been big into comics in the 80's. ^^;

He was a minor character in "The Transformers" - a civilian scientist on Cybertron who was forced by the evil Decepticons to create a "Space Bridge" that would allow them easy transport between Earth and Cybertron. In order to ensure Spanner's cooperation, the Decepticons literally built him into the bridge.

Blaster, the leader of the contingent of Autobots still on Cybertron, had planned on destroying the bridge, but became reluctant when he learned that the bridge was itself alive. Spanner himself insisted that he do the deed, though, since it wasn't much of a life he was living in his current form, and the Decepticons needed to be stopped.

I picked the name for my Internet handle when I was in college, for reasons that I don't recall. It wasn't as though I was still big into Transformers at that time (though I still remembered them quite fondly).

Mmm, well. You know what I say. Or maybe you don't, so that's why I'm going to say it again: the hawt sexx0r? Just ain't fun if you can possibly stick any two (or three, or seven...) other characters in the same place and come out with the same result. The character dynamic has to be unique, you know? Otherwise, hey. You could get the same joy out of porn, right? If it was just anybody? I know I could. But people involved in fandom (at least the people I know, who are predominantly female) tend to seek out smutfic for a reason, no? There's an element of personality there that can't afford to be lost with the characters involved.

What I mean by that is, y'know. If it's smut, and it's Jinnai (come on, you knew I'd go there... not everything has changed), I want the man on the page to sound and act unmistakably like Jinnai. Maniacal cackling and all. Or not, perhaps given the circumstances, seeing as Jinnai and consensual sex appear to exist in diametric opposition to one another... but I digress.

And that, my friend, is something so important to keep in mind. With het and general romance as well, even. It's all a matter of execution, in my humble opinion. Shit is shit, y'follow my drift? X3

By the way, my dear Mr. What. That little thing of mine is going to undergo a touchup in the next little while. Could I bother you to replace the version you've got when the time comes?
