I understand, I'm totally that way with Ifurita! Did I mention Castle of Cagliostro? Oh yeah, that (and most anything Lupin III for that matter) is superb! And somebody (Pioneer) finally decided to license the TV series! Ah, and I recently saw "Pursuit of Harimao's Treasure", while we're on the subject.
I wouldn't go so far as to say most anything Lupin III is superb... Lupin III is one of the longest running anime series, and has had a lot of different people work on it (much like the James Bond series).  There's some great gems there, but boy, there are some stinkers too.  ^_^()
What's got me utterly perplexed is that Pioneer is releasing the second TV series... considering it makes references to events from the first TV series I'm guessing some folks will be wondering what's going on.  Oh well, no one ever said Pioneer was playing with a full deck.
Harimao's treasure is good.  I'm guessing you've seen Miyazaki's episodes of the TV series (and if not... WHY?)  If you haven't seen them I would recommend Twillight Gemini (probably my favorite in the series, after Cagliostro) and Secret of Mamo.

In a weird way this is on topic (it's for a slightly odd El-Hazard project I'm working on), but anyway...

What would you say are the great "Pointless Debates" of anime fandom?  We all know that the Subbed vs. Dubbed debate will never be resolved, but what are the other ones that just make you go "oh, not this again..."

(Incidentally, it's true... we fans of the original Gundam don't like Gundam Wing and tend to start twitching in a disturbed manner if it's called "The original Gundam".  Sieg Zeon.)

Another thing that ick'ed me is-- why was I put off when Fatora and Alielle overpower Kauru, and Kauru screams, but it didn't automatically bother me when Deva has the bugs overpower Jinnai, and Jinnai screams?  I mean, non-consentual is non-consentual.  I shouldn't be entertained by either case.

This one's easy to explain I'm afraid.  Jinnai is not an innocent.  Jinnai is a villain, and he was getting his come-uppance.  Furthermore, it wasn't exactly out of character (like Alielle's actions) and it wasn't drawn out as long.  There was also a matter-of-factness to it.  Diva needed a viable mate, Jinnai was there, that was all there was too it.  She didn't seem to be getting any perverse pleasure from it like Fatara and Alielle.

But come on, it was the only direct to video episode of a series that should have entirely been direct to video.  What more needs to be said?

Well, then I guess it's a good thing you didn't read my Trigun rant at my discussion board. ^^;

Nothing personal against Vash fans. But I really do not like Vash.

No worries.  I would never try to force my stalker-like obsession with that walking way-past-coolness we call Vash upon anyone else.  Plus you complimented Castle of Cagliostro (my all time favorite anime movie) so you're cool in my book.

Um...

I can't read what Shayla is saying there... Is that "Criminy"?  A can't see Shayla saying Criminy...

Vash is both my hero and my role model.  Make of that what you will...

El-Hazard Online / Unlikely Crossover(s)
« on: March 16, 2003, 12:40:39 am »
Considering the backgrounds of this site's originators, I was wondering if anyone had ever tried doing a SatAM Sonic The Hedgehog/El Hazard crossover, made jokes about it, or anything?  For that matter, has anyone ever done any really weird crossovers with El Hazard (or would like to)?

On an unrelated note, I love this site.  I was happily looking at the goodies and thinking to myself "These people have done so much, I should really try to contribute something... I know, I'll ask them if they want that weird Gameboy Emulator Wanderers opening I found!"

Then I saw you already had it.  ^_^()

Really really sorry to bother you again, but I'm having a little trouble with the Demo version of the game.  When the Configuration Window comes up no matter what settings I put in "Video Settings" when I run the test I get a "Video Mode Error!" box that reads ""Can not set video mode".  I'm sure the problem is entirely mine and not the game's, but I haven't been able to find any advice for this error on the net (except possibly in German, which I can't read), and I was wondering if anyone 'round here was smarter than me.  Sorry for being such a nuisance!

Sorry to bother you all.  I'm just wondering how saving will work in the finished version.  Will you be able to have as many save files as you want, or will there be a limit somehow?  Some of us want to get every version of the story, and that's considerably more difficult if there's a limit to the number of files you can save...
