If so, you might get a bit of a chuckle out of my little anime theory relating to it and El Hazard. ;)

Here it is, copy and pasted from a different forum. Don't continue reading unless you're prepared to be spoiled on School Days:

My funny theory is that School Days is actually wrote by El Hazard villain Katsuhiko Jinnai.

In the case of El Hazard, and School Days, the lead protagonist is a teenager named Makoto:

The resemblance between the two Makotos is quite uncanny. When you factor in that they also share the same given name, its pretty intriguing.

Spoilers coming up to explain my theory, so please stop reading now if you don't want to be spoiled on El Hazard or School Days... ;)

The Makoto of School Days (Makoto Ito) ends up having sex with almost every girl in the show. He is rather (in)famous for this, and this ultimately results in his brutal and gorey demise.

From the perspective of Katsuhiko Jinnai, the Makoto of El Hazard (Makoto Mizuhara) may seem like a bit of a philanderer as well. Makoto was popular with girls in school as one of Jinnai's flashbacks made pretty clear, and Makoto also attracted the romantic interest of many prominent females in El Hazard, including Jinnai's "ultimate weapon" Ifurita. Makoto's romantic allure was definitely part of Jinnai's undoing in El Hazard, so one can see the psychological catharsis that could come from Jinnai writing a story where "Makoto" is the one undone by his romantic allure.

Its notable that School Days also has a character named "Nanami", and interestingly enough she's one of the few girls to remain untouched by Makoto. Perhaps this reflects Jinnai's hope that his own sister Nanami never actually slept with the accursed Mizuhara.

The ending that Makoto Ito suffered in School Days is probably what Jinnai would like to see happen to his archrival Makoto Mizuhara as well.

So, what do people think of my little funny anime theory here? :)

El-Hazard Online / Picture request
« on: January 25, 2010, 09:27:40 pm »
I need a screen shot of the large Katsuhiko Jinnai statue that the Bugrom made in episode 5 of the first OVA.

Unfortunately, there's no shot of this in this site's otherwise incredible array of episode screenshots.

Any help here would be deeply appreciated. :)

I really like the new look of the site... some really neat smilies too.  ^_^V

I hope that we might get some more activity here due to the recent board upgrade.  :)

El-Hazard Online / The Magnificent Destiny of Haruhi's El Hazard
« on: August 01, 2009, 04:09:29 pm »
Here's Chapter 1 of Section 1: http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=280751

A few notes...

1. I'm going with my own narration here. I'm also drastically cutting down on (but not entirely removing) italics and bolds. So, first of all, I'm mostly curious about what the narration is like, and how the change in presentation style is coming across (good, bad, neutral - want even more italics and bolds wiped out?)

2. The continuation of this continuity will focus mostly on the humans from Earth, and Nanoha. Other El Hazard characters (particularly the Three Priestesses) will feel pretty cut out of the story. I feel that this will enable me to handle the cast better. Not saying that they won't make cameo appearances, but that's probably what it will be limited to.

3. The Sequel Sample has been fused into Chapter 1, all in one large clump. You can skip over it once you get to it if you want.

4. Now, I've given this a lot of thought, particularly given feedback from Rowan and Spanner.

Here's my plan for my fanfic continuity as a whole...

Part 1 of the Trilogy - The El Hazard of Haruhi Suzumiya

Part 2 of the Trilogy - The Magnificent Destiny of Haruhi's El Hazard

Part 2 of the Trilogy is broke up into 3 sections (each about half the size of the El Hazard of Haruhi Suzumiya)

Section 1 - The Sensei Fujisawa of Haruhi Suzumiya

Section 2 - The Fight to Return to Earth

Section 3 - The First Family of the Bugrom Empire

Section 1 and 2 - here is where I hope to grow as a writer, if possible. In other words, constructive criticism is my main hope for feedback for these two sections.

Section 3 I have different hopes for, but I'll share that with this board once we get to it.

If I accomplish one or both of my two goals for Section 3, then I'll write...

Part 3 of the Trilogy - *Classified Information*

...As Mikuru would say. ;)

I have an actual  name and basic plot concept for this Part, but if I reveal it now, it'll spoil Part 2 of the Trilogy, so I'm keeping it to myself for now.

5. Section 1 of Trilogy Part 2 (The Sensei Fujisawa of Haruhi Suzumiya) is going to revolve around 3 romances. You can even call it the three romances of the three kingdoms, if you want. ;D  So, six characters in particular will be the focus of this Section.

Well, I very much look forward to what people think of the 1st chapter of The Magnificent Destiny of Haruhi's El Hazard! :)

Please feel free to nitpick everything, as I'm hoping to grow as a writer here.

El-Hazard Online / The El Hazard of Haruhi Sequel Sample
« on: July 28, 2009, 04:47:37 pm »
I just wrote two pages of what might be the start of a sequel to my The El Hazard of Haruhi Suzumiya fanfic.

I'm currently leaning towards writing a comedic slice-of-life seven-chapter (or thereabouts) story that will focus on romances and softer drama (i.e. school-esque drama instead of world hangs in the balance drama).

These following two pages reflect what my humor will likely be like if I go ahead with this seven-chapter plan. I basically would like to know if it's too zany or not and if it survives the laugh test.

If I get mostly positive responses to this sequel sample I'll incorporate it into the El Hazard of Haruhi Suzumiya continuity and begin working off of it. If I get mostly negative responses to this sequel sample, I'll scrap it and go back to the drawing board.

Well, anyway, here it is (in my narrator voice - not Kyon's)...

_____________________________________________

Approximately four weeks, and one Bugrom Queen Coronation ceremony, had passed since Haruhi Suzumiya, Kyon, Itsuki Koizumi, Mikuru Asahina, and Yuki Nagato had all found themselves in diverse locations through out the magnificent alien world of El Hazard. In that time, much had changed in El Hazard due in no small part to their arrival.

First and foremost, the Bugrom Empire now had a new Queen, a Queen who had negotiated peace between the Bugrom and the Alliance and who had also even managed to tame the lust for revenge and warfare that had previously known a ceaseless beat within the heart of Katsuhiko Jinnai. With this peace, came the establishment of human settlements within Bugrom territory and bugrom settlements within every Alliance nation, except Megraton's Cyberica. These settlements were founded with the goal of bugrom living peacefully within easy walking distance of humans leading to the two species growing more at ease and at harmony with one another.

Due to the popularity of the action figures bearing his miniaturized likeness, as well as his integral role in Galus' defeat, SOS Man began to enjoy an almost iconic status amongst the human children of El Hazard. This status was helped along by the already growing legend of how he and his ally Bugwoman had saved the entire world from the destructive wiles of Galus.

"Look!" one jubilant eight year old Fasudan boy shouted, while pointing his finger at the costumed Katsuhiko Jinnai, "It's him. It's the great SOS Man! He's the hero who stopped Galus from blowing up the entire world!"
"A ha!" laughed SOS Man in reply, striking an imposing pose while puffing out his chest as much as he could and holding enclosed fists next to his waist, "Yes, it is I, your peerless champion of justice and peace! Do not worry, good citizen, for I am here to dispense with all shadows, and aid bugrom and human alike through charting a course of limitless joy under the auspices of the SOS Brigade!"

"SOS Man! SOS Man!" exclaimed dozens upon dozens of children, flocking to him as starving sheep flock to a shepherd.

Katsuhiko Jinnai actually did quite well in this new role, as it brought him an ever increasing sense of personal grandeur and importance. SOS Man was becoming, ironically enough, a roundly beloved hero. He was even becoming beloved once more by his formerly estranged sister.

Nanami had shrewdly determined that SOS Man could be a money making machine for her, and hence went to great lengths to ensure that SOS Man's true secret identity was kept hidden from the general human populaces of El Hazard. SOS Man hence was a figure clad in handsome hope yet shrouded in mythical mystery. The perfect image to commodify, copyright, and sell in the form of thousands and thousands of toys.

Jinnai Industries was the name that Nanami gave to her toy manufacturing company, which with bugrom help was up and running and steamrolling out SOS Man and Bugwoman toys by the thousands only a few days after Galus' defeat.

A significant number of adult El Hazard peasants were displeased by this mushrooming rise of SOS Man as they suspected that he was really the despised warlord Katsuhiko Jinnai. Nanami set up a large ten foot tall theatre platform of sorts in the city square of Florestica with a plan set up to dash these suspicions. Thankfully, the following staged appearance would succeed in accomplishing that...

"SOS Man is not Katsuhiko Jinnai... for I am Katsuhiko Jinnai!" was the bold declarative shout of a widely smiling person with an exact likeness to Katsuhiko Jinnai walking out from the red curtains to stand next to SOS Man's side.

"So you see, fine citizens" stated SOS Man, who had already been standing on stage after being introduced by Nanami, "Clearly I am not the warlord Katsuhiko Jinnai... though I am pleased to be in his esteemed acquaintance!"

"That is right!" shouted 'Katsuhiko Jinnai' with the voice of Jinnai, in what looked to be Jinnai's student uniform complete with medals, and with 'his' arms neatly folded in front of 'him', "You should all be thankful to have the heroic SOS Man on your side, for otherwise I would conquer all your lands, burn all your houses, eat all your babies, and rule you like a King! And then I would disembowel Makoto Mizu~hara and drag his entrails through out the streets to demonstrate my ultimate act of superiority over him! Fear me, oh humans of El Hazard! Fear and respect the unstoppable villain Katsuhiko Jinnai...
Mwa-ha-ha-ha-HA!-ha-ha-ha-ha-HA-ha ha ha ha ha ha...!!!"

These words left the gathered crowd in front of the oddly innocently grinning Katsuhiko in a temporarily petrified state of astounded horror.

"Hey!" whispered SOS Man angrily to Katsuhiko Suzumiya, "I'm supposed to be reformed, remember?!"

"Oh, sorry, I forgot..." replied a whispering Bugrom Queen Haruhi in the midst of one of her hammiest acting performances ever, "I thought you'd like this tribute to how coolly villainous you used to be!"

"P-please don't take my brother seriously here!" stated Nanami nervously into the mike that was situated at the outermost rimmed edge of the platform that she had set up, "He's only joking, I can assure you!"

"That's right!" exclaimed Katsuhiko Suzumiya, "I was joking about everything except eating babies. All great villains eat babies after all!"

"Ggaaaahhh...!!![/i]" cried SOS Man bringing a palm to his golden mask.

So while Katsuhiko Jinnai was now suspected of cannibalism, his alter ego of SOS Man was no longer suspected of being Katsuhiko Jinnai. This made him a palatable hero for El Hazard human adults, and retained his iconic status amongst the El Hazard youths.

Any and all feedback on this writing sample is greatly appreciated.

« on: May 11, 2009, 07:47:23 pm »
I recently started writing a fanfic called "The El Hazard of Haruhi Suzumiya". It combines the two awesome animes of the same name (El Hazard and the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)!

Chapter 1 is here: http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=269068

I'd love to know what my fellow El Hazard fans think of it so far!  :)

El-Hazard Online / El Hazard AMVs I made!
« on: October 28, 2007, 10:31:05 pm »
It's been a long time since I posted here since, well, I felt that the place might be a bit dead.

However, after making a few El Hazard AMVs over the past few months, I decided to check this place out again.

I start with what is perhaps my best El Hazard AMV...

Makoto vs. Jinnai to "Tenth Man Down" by Nightwish.

Then there's another El Hazard AMV featuring the entire cast of the Magnificent World fairly prominently to the Mulan song "I'll Make a Man out of You". I think it fits well in a comedic way... ;)

El Hazard - I'll Make a Man Out of Makoto!

Finally, there was my first El Hazard AMV to the song "Adrenaline" by Bush. It was only my 2nd AMV ever, so it might be a bit weak...

El Hazard - The Rise and Fall of Jinnai

If you like either one of these three AMVs that I made, please tell me - there are a few multi-anime AMVs that I made that features El Hazard for a bit, but I won't bother to put them up if the El Hazard exclusives aren't well liked.

Thanks in advance for any and all feedback!

El-Hazard Online / Some writing I've done...
« on: March 21, 2006, 09:57:49 am »
I've not completed "Episode 1" yet of my "El Hazard:New World" story, but I've finished the first few scenes. It reads like a mixture of a fan fic, and a script. Anyway, it's a VERY rough draft, but I'd like to get some immediate feedback. Keep in mind that it's 30 years into the future (so Mr. Fujisawa, and Miz, are both well up there in years, and they now have a son named Masato). Tell me what you all think! :)

El Hazard: The New World

Episode 1

The air was crisp, clean, and thin. Small cool patches of hazy clouds drifted in the air. A nice mountain path, running adjacent to the mountain, arched upwards at a small angle. Suddenly, a man in his sixties, but very physically fit for his age, came running up that path. He was breathing a little bit heavily, and came to a stop. Wiping a bit of sweat from off his brow, the silver haired sinewy man, dressed in jogging pants, a white shirt, and a leather coat, grabbed a bottle that was at his waist. Taking a quick swig from the bottle, the man gave a joyous shout.

Masamichi Fujisawa: Yeah, this is the life! There's nothing like climbing this beauty of a mountain. Mount Muldoon is always a great challenge!

After standing with a nice smile on his angular face, the old sensei slowly turned around, and quickly looked about. His travelling companion was nowhere to be found.

Masamichi Fujisawa: Miz? Where are you, Miz?! Hurry up, will 'ya!

After looking around a bit more, but not seeing her anywhere, Mr. Fujisawa became a bit concerned.

Masamichi Fujisawa: Miz? Are you Ok? Speak to me, Miz!

Finally, Miz Mishtal, also in her senior years, with a few wrinkles on her face, and greyish blue hair, and wearing a dress much like the one she wore in her younger days, begin to slowly walk around the turn in the path, to come to where Mr. Fujisawa was. She was clearly out of breath.

Miz Mishtal: Oh, Masamichi... *huff*... why do we have to go on these... *puff*... so strenuating mountain climbing journey's all the time?!

Masamichi Fujisawa: Humph. Given that you used to be a Priestess of Mount Muldoon, I'm surprised that it's that hard for you to conquer it!

Miz Mishtal: Well, honey, I'm not as young as I used to be!

Masamichi Fujisawa (with a smile): Yeah... but I'm no spring chicken, either. Still, Miz, I'm glad that you came along.

Miz Mishtal (with a sympathetic smile): I couldn't let you go kill yourself on one of these suicidal journeys alone, could I? I wouldn't be much of a wife, then.

Masamichi Fujisawa: Heh. I still remember when Londs told Makoto and me that this mountain meant certain death. Well, I guess he was wrong about that!

This gave Miz Mishtal a little idea.

Miz Mishtal (touching her head like she was about to faint), and sauntering over to Mr. Fujisawa): I'm not so sure about thaaaaaaatttt...

Miz Mishtal then collapses... very convienantly into Mr. Fujisawa's arms.

"Whoa, Miz, are you alright?" asked a concerned Mr. Fujisawa, sitting down, and holding her in his arms

Miz Mishtal (with a playful grin, and one eye opened): I'll be fine... as long as you're holding me in your arms, my Prince Charming.

Mr. Fujisawa (with a playful smile): Oh, this is one of your nice romantic games again, eh? I don't mind as much as I used to, you know.

Miz Mishtal and Mr. Fujisawa than come face to face, with her staring up at his face, and him staring down at hers.

Miz Mishtal: I know, sweetie... now give me a kiss.

With a shadowed profile of each person's face, and puckered lips, the two begin to slowly move their heads together to make a kiss. However, they certainly heard a sound...

?: Wfpidsvjvpa

Mr. Fujisawa (breaking away from the kiss): What's that sound?

Miz Mishtal: *Sigh* I don't hear anything. Are you just trying to avoid kissing me?

?: Wjpogsagpoia!

Mr. Fujisawa: Of course not! And there is that sound again. Do you hear it, Miz?

Miz Mishtal (starting to take the sound seriously): Yeah, I do. What could it be, Masamichi?

?: Whisinospooidsfg!

Mr. Fujisawa: It sounds... it sounds like bugrum!

Miz Mishtal: Bugrum? Here?! Why, bugrum haven't been on this side of the River of God in twenty years!

Both Mr. Fujisawa, and Miz Mishtal came to their feet, and begin looking around.

Mr. Fujisawa: Still... I'm almost positive that's bugrum!

Suddenly, the sound of bugrum feet moving quickly upon the ground could be heard.

Miz Mishtal (becoming frightened): Oh, dear, you're right... it is bugrum!

Mr. Fujisawa: Stay calm, Miz, I'll... *hic*... stop them.

Miz Mishtal: Oh no, you've been drinking too! You won't be able to stop them!

Mr. Fujisawa: Now, don't get ahead of... *hic*... of yourself here. I'm Masa *hic* chi Fujisawa. I can handle it!

Suddenly, large looming bugrum-esque shadows cascade over both Mr. Fujisawa, and Miz Mishtal. There's a close up of their faces, as you hear a leaping sound, more bugrum shouts, and Mr. Fujisawa and Miz Mishtal shouting/screaming in horror!

Cue the credits...

We come to a nice, serence clearing in the forest. A nice, pristine Canadian log cabin is almost completed, but still under construction. The grass is nice, and lush, but also a bit moist. The sounds of an axe cutting into wood, and of a young man grunting can be heard. Camera slowly zooms across the scene of the cabin, with several small animals scurrying about the cabin. Finally, you hear the sound of "timber!" Camera then zooms to the secene of the tree falling, and then focuses on the face of a young man, in his late teens, with brown hair, smoking a cigarette, and wearing a nice blue outfit of sorts (similiar to Galus' from the original El Hazard OVA).

Masato Fujisawa (wiping the sweat off of his forehead): *Whew*. Dad certainly keeps me busy making cabins like this. I would have loved to have gone on that mountain trip with him and mom, but mom wanted to take the advantage of having "quality time alone" with dad, so I was left here chopping down trees, and chopping up wood. I hope that they're having a good time, though.

Masato then slowly lowers himself to the ground below, and stretches out on the grass, with his hands behind his head, looking up to the sky above.

Masato: This place sure is beautiful... and peaceful.

We see the nice blue sky above, with a few clouds passing by, that Masato sees.

Masato (rolling over to his side, facing the camera): Too peaceful, though. I need adventure! I hate just sitting around, and doing stupid, little chores like this.

Masato (close up on his face): Hhhmmm... I wonder what Watanabe is up to. He told me that he was going to try out a new experiment at a nearby lake. Maybe I should go check it out.

We now come to the lakeside, and a young boy, wearing a student uniform, with dark hair, fiddling with some sort of mechanism in his hands.

Watanabe: Electrical energy is hard to come by, here in El Hazard, but by harnassing hydroelectric sources, and then compressing the energy into small capsules, we at least have batteries that can charge remote controls like this one!
If I can get this new invention working, it could be really useful in providing another nice, clean environmentally-friendly method of locomotion for El Hazard!

Watanabe quietly fiddles at the control, and is clearly peering outwards at the large body of water in front of him. He has a smile on his face, and pumps one fist into the air.

Watanabe: Yes, it's working! It's actually working!

The sound of shuffling branches, and leaves, could be heard as Masato walked up from behind Watanabe, to join him at the sandy lakeside.

Masato: What's working?

Watanabe (turning his head to greet Masato): Oh hey, Masato. It's just this new invention I'm trying out.

Masato: Your new invention?

Watanabe: Yeah... let me bring it closer in, so you can take a look at it.

Short moment of both of them peering out at the lake, while Watanabe continues to fiddle with the controls.

Masato's mouth opens in awe at what he now sees, and the cigarette almost falls out of his mouth.

Masato: Wow! You made... that!

On the "that" we get a quick zoom over the scene of a very tall metallic boat, like a minaturized version of a steamliner.

Watanabe: Well, I only designed it. I needed the help of Faura Flora, and Midori, to actually make it.

Masato (with a smile, and arms outstretched): Awesome! You've done good, Watanabe! Could we actually take that boat for a ride down the river?

Watanabe: Well... I'm not so sure if that's a good idea, Masato. It may be harder for me to control if I'm actually on it.

Masato: Oh, come on! Where's your spirit for adventure?! You have this lovely little longliner, and you're just going to let it sit in the bay? Let's take it for a ride!

Watanabe (with his eyes closed, rubbing his hair, and a nervous look): Well, if you insist...

Masato (grabbing Watanabe's arm, draggin Watanabe, and jumping unto the boat): Great! Let's go...

Watanabe: Whooaaaa...! Be careful!

The two teenagers are now on the boat, and with Watanabe continuing to fiddle with the controls, you hear a large humming sound, a large swoosh of water, and the boat starting to turn, and head out of the lake, and into the river.
The sound of humming motors, and parting water, continues to be heard in the background. A gleeful Masato lounges on the boat's railing, while sitting on the deck. Watanabe is facing forward, steering the ship with his remote control. After a few silent moments, the two begin talking again.

Masato: Aahhhhh... now this is what I call fun! What I wouldn't give for your inventive talents, Watanabe!

Watanabe (with a smile): Hey, I wouldn't mind having your strength!

Masato: Yeah... but it means I have to cut back on drinking, and smoking. What good is life if you can't get a nice buzz, or high, once in a while?

Watanabe: Well, making inventions like this one, is what gives me a 'high', Masato. So does using them!

Masato: I'm with you there, bud! Do you mind if I do some fishing? I actually brought a fishing rod with me just in case.

Watanabe: Go right ahead. We're doing fine!

With that, the sound of a "ploop!" as a hook connected to a large ball and line dips into the river. Watanabe makes special care to steer the boat around a rock in the middle of the river, and is beaming with pride. About a minute or so passes, and...

Masato: Yeah, I got one....!

Masato reels in a nice, red fish, and holds it in his open palm, after taking if off the hook.

Watanabe: Oh uh! I think that we might have trouble!

Masato (turning his head to look towards Watanabe): Huh? What's the problem?

In his distraction, the fish managed to leap off of his hand, and plop back into the river.

Masato: Oh shit! Look at what you made me do, Watanabe. The fish got away!

Watanabe: I don't think that's our biggest problem, Masato. Look!

Masato stands up, and moves towards Watanabe.

Masato: Holy Eye of God! It's a waterfall! Turn us around!

Watanabe: I... I can't! the stream is too strong!

For the second time today, Masato opens his mouth up wide in shock. This time, the cigarette falls out.

Masato takes hold of Watanabe by the lapels of his student jacket: Watanabe... get us out of here! We're not going down that waterfall!

By now, the large rush of water coming from the waterfall can be heard.

Watanabe: Masato... I can't stop it! I told you that this could be dangerous!

The boat begins to swerve violently, and crash against small rocks, sending both Masato and Watanabe reeling from one side of the boat to the other! They make several shouts, and groans.

Finally, the boat comes to the edge of the waterfall, and it goes over! Masato, and Watanabe, begin to shout loudly in horror!

El-Hazard Online / El Hazard: Battle for Rashtaria
« on: March 20, 2006, 09:41:49 am »
One of my favourite PC games is "Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth". In this game, you choose one of four sides (Gondor, Rohan, Isengard, or Mordor), and you are given certain base-types, building-types, military-units, hero-types, and special bonus' for each of those four sides. The game is, in many ways, a LotR version of Age of Empires. I found it outstanding, and a joy to play.

After watching El Hazard, and reading a few El Hazard fan fics, it occured to me that we could have a very similiar game with El Hazard.

You could be limited to the Alliance, and the Bugrum (maybe a smart game maker could extend it to three, with the Shadow Tribe, but you'd need to get inventive), but even then, I think it would be loads of fun.

For Rashtaria, you could have a "central pilliar" of the royal palace of Floristica. Building structures could include a battle lab (for upgrades), a barracks (for soldiers), a bar (for greater cash influx, and also opening up Mr. Fujisawa as a recruitable character), a temple (for greater troop morale, and also opening up the three Priestesses as a recruitable characters), a food court (for greater cash influx, and also opening up Nanami as a recruitable character), and a hangar bay (for opening up larger Rashtarian machines, particularly flying machines). Makoto, Rune Venus, and Ura could be recruited immediately, and each have special abilities (i.e. machines would work more efficiently with Makoto within a certain radius of them).

For the Bugrum, you could have a "central pillar" of the Hive. Building structures could include a breeding facility (for soldiers), a Statue of Jinnai (for higher morale for soldiers), a Demon God Tomb (to make Ifurita a recruitable character), a food storage facility (for more cash influx), and a war machines factory (for larger war machines). Jinnai, Diva, and Groucho, would all be recruitable characters, each with their own special abilities (i.e. any bugrum within a certain radius of the Jinnai character would get a morale upgrade, making his attack stronger).

I certainly don't have the ability/skill to make a game like this, but I'm wondering what everybody here thinks of the concept. :)

El-Hazard Online / Idea I had for a sequel to El Hazard
« on: March 19, 2006, 07:46:07 pm »
As many of you probably know, El Hazard and Tenchi are both made by the same parent company of Pioneer.

Now, both shows were going strong with sequels... up until Alternate World. Sadly, there has been no new El Hazard material since then (not that I'm aware of, anyway).

I think that El Hazard would do well to try to re-invent itself somewhat in the same manner that many Tenchi spin-offs have... by that, I mean that you bring in a new cast of characters, but within the same universe, and use established characters from the original season largely for cameo appearances and/or major story archs.

In this vein, I've thought up what a new 26 episode El Hazard series could be like.

I was thinking that "El Hazard: The New World" would be a good name for it.

The idea behind it is this... we fast forward 30 years into the future, beyond the ending of Alternate World (we work off of that continuity). Most of the original cast of characters have passed away and/or eased into something of a retirement. In their place would be seven new key characters...

Watanabe Mizuhara --- A very smart teenager born and bred in El Hazard who has certain powers over machines, and has even made some interesting inventions. A fairly meek, and shy, person, but passionate in what he believes in. He would be the main protagonist.

Masato Fujisawa - Watanabe's best friend, who is gifted with superstrength and speed. He's an excellent fighter, is a chain-smoker, and likes an alcoholic beverage every now and then (but is trying to break the habit since it weakens him). He loves adventuring, and simply hanging out with Watanabe.

Galoria, the Water Priestess - A clever, analytical thinker. A defector from the Shadow Tribe! She as such has pale blue skin, and has to deal with some racist sentiment from many of the Rashtarian people, including from...

Faura Flora, the Fire Priestess - A very fiery person with a never say die attitude, and a big crush on Watanabe. She's the tallest of the Priestesses, and the most outspoken of the three.

Midori, the Wind Priestess - The youngest of the three Priestesses, and also the smallest. A very nice, playful, and sweet girl. She has a crush on Masato.

Sakura - The new unquestioned ruler of the revived Bugrum Empire. She is both Queen, and Commander. She has normal white skin, and light red hair. She does have bugrum wings, but no additional eyes. She wears a black cape, and black leather tights. She is reserved and thoughtful at times, but can also be very impulsive. She has given names to each member of her personally selected core group of Bugrum soldiers. She laughs maniacally whenever a major battle is won, or a plan succeeds (think of the Kodachi laugh from Ranma, or the Naga laugh from Slayers). To make things interesting, Watanabe develops a bit of a crush on her after he meets her, but she absolutely loathes the name "Mizuhara". Needless to say, she's the main antagonist.

There would also be a new Rashtarian Prince, and a new leader for the Shadow Tribe (though I don't have a name for them yet).

My plan was to have the first 13 episodes focus on the new characters, and character development. However, I'd kick the series off (right before the very first showing of the opening intro) with a very old, but physically fit, man jogging up a mountainside with his poor older wife trotting along after him asking why they have to go on such mountain climbing adventures. ;) Then you would hear what sounds like Bugrum noises, and see what looks like Bugrum shadows, and suddenly the couple are attacked, and captured (you don't see them after they scream however)!

I was then thinking it would be good to re-introduce two more "classic" El Hazard characters near the end of the first 13 episodes, including a special surprise re-introduction at the end of episode 13 that would set up the final 13 episodes. The final 13 episodes would bring many of the "classic" El Hazard characters into play, and would see a major three-way struggle between Roshtaria, the more powerful than ever Bugrum Empire, and the cunning Shadow Tribe.

So... what do you guys all think? :) I can get into greater detail if you wish.

El-Hazard Online / Hey there!

I'm a big El Hazard fan, but unfortunetly didn't get much into anime (outside of the stuff already very easily accesible like DBZ) until a year or two ago.

The El Hazard series immediately hooked me in, and I consider it my favourite Anime (though there are a lot that I like).

I felt that the OVA storyline was outsanding, and that the TV show was equally good (for the most part) and had some great individual episodes.

I like the overall feel of the show, but I admit that what really hooked me were the villians - Katsuhiko Jinnai, and Queen Diva. I consider them to be the best villain couple in all of anime!

Of course, all of the key cast members are appealling (I also really like Mr. Fujisawa, Shayla Shayla, and both Ifuritas).

Anyway, just wanted to say 'hello' after finding this site. I have a few ideas that I'm going to post in a sec. :)
