Makoto: He gets a nosebleed. Because, like, he's never seen naked women before. Oh, apart from OAV1 Episode 3, when he's surrounded by naked women for a long time, and doesn't get a nosebleed.
Qawoor: There is a difference between 'naive' and 'brain dead', you know. Throughout Alternative World, Qawoor might not have been the sharpest tool in the box but at least she had some brains.
The idea that Fatora could trick her by pretending to be a FICTICIOUS priestess defies belief.
And another thing... doesn't Qawoor usually attack whenever she panics? Why couldn't she have dealt with Fatora herself?
Alielle and Fatora: ... Fatora's first plot (the one with the Sansukes) doesn't even make sense. What form of gratification are they supposed to get from it? Are supposed to be able to actually FEEL the girls through those giant furry suits? Unless they had a video camera rigged up somewhere, I can't understand what the point of this one was.
I'm not the only person to think that this was going way too far, even for Fatora.
Shayla, Afura and Nanami: This one annoys me. Firstly, they all seem mildly disturbed by the antics of the Sansukes, and they TELL them to stop, but they don't actually DO anything. Nani? We know how quick to anger Shayla and Nanami are. Shayla would have knocked the Sansukes into next week. Are feeble complaints really the best they can do?
Secondly, their reaction on finding out that the Sansukes are really Alielle and Fatora is even more confusing. Yes, they freak out... but think about it. In what way is being felt up by a woman worse than being felt up by a large furry animal? I'd have been mildly relieved.
Parnasse: Doesn't have a single in-character moment throughout the whole episode. Has he been neutered or something? In the rest of the series, he was hitting on Fatora, Rune AND all those harem girls. Now he's swimming past naked women without batting an eyelid.
And why was he allowed in the women's section anyway? I know they said he's a kid...
Let's not forget a major chronological arse-up: Makoto and co have obviously been back from Cretaria for some time (since Fujisawa and Miz are back frrom their honeymoon) but Jinnai and Groucho are acting like they've only just got back.
Well, actually, here's an alternate assesment; OAV1 in particular cast Makoto as this incredibly sexuality-unsure character. Everything related to either gender situation made him just get into panic states. The "don't you have any balls, kid?" and the dress-up "No way! am NOT going to dress up in girl's clothing and pretend I'm a woman!"
Or you never know, maybe Jinnai's been bitching about it for several days now.
Thanks for the credit on that musing btw, Rob
On that note, I have been thinking about doing the Shayla introduction and battle scene for an encore
However, nothing in that scene indicates that the moment was happening right along with the whole Arliman thing. That could very well be a "Well, when Jinnai got back, THIS happened" display. Or you never know, maybe Jinnai's been bitching about it for several days now.
I bet Jinnai has been bitching about it for several days... The way he mulls over Makoto one-upping him all the time, he acts like things that happened 2 years ago happened today...
That last episode, when Diva has her way with him, well, I think that could have been left out completly.
After all, in the first OAV, after Ifurita's conquering everything, and Diva's getting Jinnai drunk, (and you KNOW that it's not because they ran out of apple juice), you can pretty much assume what's going on.
But NOW Jinnai's playing at the "Oh my God I never realized Diva wanted that!" ploy. Is this strange, or have I just not been gatting some importaint info? (Perhaps in the OAV 2 which I never saw)
No, in OAV 2, Diva was only featured once for a few moments in the first episode (poor Diva never gets screen time).
Also, it's probably not so much that Diva wanted it (whether or not she did may not be relevant actually); if you read the El-Hazard RPG&R book by Guardians of Order, the author has a very insectoid-research approach to the Bugrom behavior. Most likely Diva demanded this because it was in the interest of the hive overall, not so much personal enjoyment.
Probably, though I often suspect that her feelings for Jinnai go deeper than religious faith and respect and at least border on love.
Leaving the first episode moment completely unattached to the rest of the story?
And I'm not the only one, to quote a few text bits from the infamous Jinnai / Shayla story (after Jinnai is lost in a cave-in):
With all that nudity was a complete and utter lack of nipples!!!
No male will probably ever get away without pointing that out... original OAV had 'em, don't know why this didn't... unless it's just related to all the Wanderers-ification of the animation. (easier to go without?) It could also be something related to the fact they didn't want it to spontaneously turn in to total hentai, so they lowered their pelor=sion count slightly by dilluting the image... dunno.
