Overview

In 1997, Pioneer Animation, under their 'P-Anime' line tried to market a line of comic books based off their more popular licenses at the time. Rather, however, instead of translating original manga, Pioneer decided to let American artists and writers make completely new stories.

The four series that were originally planned were: Tenchi Muyou!, Phantom Quest Corp. El-Hazard, and Moldiver. Notice that we used the phrase 'Originally planned' because for many of those comics, that's all that came of them.

Most of these comics were never released, or if they were started, never finished. The Tenchi Muyou! comic already had competition from Viz's translation of the actual manga, while the other three simply didn't have the mainstream popularity of Tenchi.

As for the El-Hazard P-Anime comic, We don't believe it was ever released (But if we are incorrect, please contact us in the forums). We do have a limited amount of information based on original advertisements and previews for the said comic series.

Little is known about the plot, but here is what we have read and/or heard. After Ifurita saves El-Hazard, Makoto hears rumors that there is a device that may help him back to Earth and to Ifurita. Unfortunately, that device is somewhere in the former Phantom Tribe homeland. So, Makoto and crew decide to venture forth and find it. Meanwhile, Jinnai has his own eyes on the device and decides to venture for it himself.

From this point on, information is sparse. We have read that there is another demon god introduced, but we have no information on that.

The original page is no longer available on-line.
