Laser Disk

Magnificent World comes in seven LD's in Japan, but four in the US.
Each LD contains one episode for Japan, but the US has one episode on LD 1 and 4, and two on the others.
Tim and Bob have recently purchased LD's related to El-Hazard. Stand by for updates on these.

They are slightly different from the ones posted on AIC's website, so they are still listed separately.

US Version Scans

The first LaserDisc in the series contained one episode - The Battlefield of Confusion - on both sides of the disc. It contained quite a bit of inserts inside.

The second LaserDisc in the series contained two episodes - The World of Beautiful Girls and The World of Hot Springs - on each side of the disc. It had inserts, but not as much as the first.

The third LaserDisc in the series contained two episodes - The World of the Demon God and The World of Thunder - on each side of the disc. What is odd about this one is the spontaneous introduction of Wanderers on the insert.

A page talking about the changes in the characters. There are plenty of mistakes in this one (Makoto = Fuji, etc.).

The last LaserDisc set in the series has two discs inside, containing one episode each - The World of Gleaming Light and The World of Endless Adventures - on one side and both sides respectively. It has one insert inside, and a nice middle portion.

US DVD RELEASE

  • All of Magnificent World 1 and 2 on DVD is found in a (pricy) unified boxset.

  • These discs host a terrific amount of extras, divided into sections. What they contain varies slightly from disc to disc, but they contain high-quality vivid imagery and credit-less opening/ending as standard features.

  • They also have quite a few "Easter Eggs", normally inaccessible secret bonuses that are triggered by bizarre videogame-esque key sequences on different parts of the menu. All around a good deal of entertainment!
