An overview of a planet. This world is known as EL-HAZARD. The many sights and scenes of this mystical place are shown, while a FEMALE NARRATOR reads a cryptic passage over the images.
FEMALE NARRATOR
(V.O.)
It is a place that dwells in the memory who still dream of its ancient glory. A world revered for its beauty, mystery and danger. On a planet of endless adventure, such a land is known as "El-Hazard". If your spirit has wings to travel, even across the breadth of a thousand million nights, imagination will guide the way, and the gates of El-Hazard will always be open to you.
Shinonome Highschool is where the adventure of El-Hazard begins. Cultural ruins have been found beneath the school, and the site is rife with activity from various television crew and architectural researchers. Various students hover around the basement, as a film crew shoots a newscaster reporting the story. And at the center of everything; a single Arabian-esque pillar…

3. INT – SHINONOME HIGHSCHOOL – CORRIDOR – DAY
MR. MASAMICHI FUJISAWA, a disgruntled male teacher at the Highschool, attempts to disperse the crowds.
FUJISAWA
All right, break it up. The show’s over for now!
FUJISAWA makes his way to the entrance to the basement.
FUJISAWA
Come on outta there! Hurry up! Damn kids...
Using a rope, he blocks off the entrance by draping it over the banister and the wall.
FUJISAWA
Listen up. Investigators are gonna be working here, so that means no one goes down there, right?
The surrounding students protest, infuriating FUJISAWA further.
FUJISAWA
Shut up! Now go on, get to class, will ya?!
He turns back to rope and rummages through his pockets.
FUJISAWA
(to himself)
Rotten brats. Where the hell did I put that tape?
As he searches, a bottle of saké falls from his pocket. The STUDENTS gasp.
MALE STUDENT 1
Look! Fujisawa’s on the sauce!
FEMALE STUDENT 1
He’s a lush!
FUJISAWA tries approaching them.
FUJISAWA
Uh, now, wait, it’s medicinal!
The STUDENTS run off laughing in all directions. One of the STUDENTS faintly sings "Booze Hound, Booze Hound"...
FEMALE STUDENT 2
Don’t let a match near him!
FUJISAWA
Don’t blame me... I’m just weak.
- INT – SHINONOME HIGHSCHOOL – BASEMENT – DAY
Down in the site of the remnants, KATSUHIKO JINNAI, the 17-year-old student president from SHINONOME HIGHSCHOOL, is combing his hair in preparation for his big television debut. A NEWSCASTER and CREW finish work to go live. CREWMEMBER 1 indicates the countdown using his fingers.
CREW MEMBER 1
Going live on the air in 3, 2...
CREW MEMBER 1 signals "1" with his finger and everyone quiets down. The NEWSCASTER begins her report.
NEWSCASTER
With us as the site is Katsuhiko Jinnai, who made the amazing discovery right here.
She turns to JINNAI.
NEWSCASTER
Uh, tell us...
JINNAI interrupts her and snatches the mic.
JINNAI
Yes, you can imagine my surprise, when this simple and humble student president found ancient, cultural remnants beneath our school. I feel it was destiny.
He nods his head solemnly. 2 MALE STUDENTS stand on the stairs to the basement, looking completely unimpressed.
MALE STUDENT 1
That’s crap! I heard a Literature Freshman found it.
MALE STUDENT 2
Oh yeah? What a total shmuck!
As they talk, NANAMI JINNAI, JINNAI’s younger sister, walks down, followed by a CAMERA MAN of her own.
JINNAI continues his little speech.
JINNAI
I believe it would fitting to call –
JINNAI pushes his face closer to the camera.
JINNAI
- this, the "Jinnai Ruins" in honour of it’s discoverer!
NEWSCASTER
(unsure)
Oh, well, it’s a thought...
NANAMI
(O.S.)
S’cuse me! Comin’ through!
NANAMI walks up the crew, complete with her own camera and mic. She introduces herself.
NANAMI
S’cuse me. Sorry to interrupt, I’m Miss. Jinnai from the broadcast club. I’d like to ask a few questions about your allegedly dishonest election.
NANAMI smiles, knowing she’s dropped JINNAI in it now.
JINNAI
Nanami...
JINNAI points, his arm shaking accusingly at his sister.
JINNAI
How dare you say this to your big brother?!
NANAMI
A journalist, a good one, must be completely objective.
JINNAI
But you’re not in the broadcast club!
NANAMI giggles slightly.
NANAMI
They paid me to take this assignment! So, Mr. President, any comments regarding the growing suspicion at this Highschool of a dishonest election?
JINNAI panics.
NANAMI
Well?
JINNAI
But I am innocent!
5. INT – SHINONOME HIGHSCHOOL – CLASS ROOM – DAY
The events in the basement are now being shown live on television.
NANAMI
I’m sure you can discuss that tomorrow. Makoto – uh, I mean – Mr. Mizuhara, a fellow student, will be the key witness at the student government meeting. Any concerns about his testimony?
JINNAI
(to camera)
Hey, you! What are you grinning at, smart ass?
CAMERA MAN
(O.S.)
You!
JINNAI
That’s it! Get that lousy camera outta my face!
JINNAI swats the camera down. Everyone on screen starts shouting and the scene turns to static.
At the other end of the room, 3 COUNCIL MEMBERS watch with MAKOTO MIZUHARA, a 17-year-old high grade student at the school. COUNCIL MEMBER 1 turns the television off.
COUNCIL MEMBER 1
At last, the tyrant has been deposed.
COUNCIL MEMBER 2
Good. I was sick of the bastard, and his fascist politics!
COUNCIL MEMBER 3
Makoto, you’re in.
MAKOTO sighs.
COUNCIL MEMBER 1
What’s wrong?
MAKOTO
I really feel like such a snitch. I didn’t mean to, but I overheard Ishijima, from the Baseball club, and Katsuhiko talking together. I wasn’t trying to spy on them at all.

ISHIJIMA makes to go inside a building. NANAMI calls after him.
NANAMI
(O.S.)
Mr. Ishijima!
ISHIJIMA opens the door, as NANAMI rounds the corner, with the CAMERA MAN following her.
NANAMI
Mr. Ishijima, please wait a minute!
ISHIJIMA goes to close the door, but NANAMI stops him.
NANAMI
Is there any truth to the allegation that you and President Katsuhiko Jinnai had a secret agreement to increase the baseball club’s budget? Tell me now!
ISHIJIMA has heard enough and closes the door. NANAMI shouts through the door to him.
NANAMI
You’re just stalling the inevitable!
The COUNCIL MEMBERS are still discussing JINNAI with MAKOTO.
COUNCIL MEMBER 1
Jinnai was buying all their votes. He paid off the soccer club and the judo and the baseball clubs. He used student government funds!
COUNCIL MEMBER 3
That explains how he got into office. Huh. No one would vote for him otherwise.
COUNCIL MEMBER 2
With your testimony, we can air his dirty laundry and get that jerk off the council, for good!
MAKOTO
Yeah, but Katsuhiko is still one of my friends, you know.
COUNCIL MEMBER 3
It’s your duty to Shinonome High. Don’t you have any balls, kid?
MAKOTO becomes annoyed and gets up, slamming his hands down on the desk.
MAKOTO
Yeah, like Cantaloupes!
COUNCIL MEMBER 3
Good! That’s exactly what we need to head this impeachment!
MAKOTO
Ohh no.
JINNAI is angrily tearing down the posters, promoting his coming trial and impeachment.
JINNAI
Wahh! My world is crumbling! Why is he doing this to me?!
JINNAI slumps against a notice board and sobs. Suddenly, he notices some test results. He sees that he got 2nd place and smiles. But, upon seeing that MAKOTO got 1st place, he goes berserk, tearing down the results.
JINNAI
Why meee?!
Underneath the results, there is a picture of MAKOTO winning a race from the last Sports Day. JINNAI looks at this with an insane expression.
JINNAI
Makoto... I hate you...
The picture seems to come to life, as MAKOTO crosses the finish line. JINNAI follows a few second later in a breathless stupor and collapses to the ground. On the ground, he growls at MAKOTO. He then has his head stepped on.
JINNAI smiles insanely at this memory.
MAKOTO and JINNAI are drawing some observational pictures of the city down below. JINNAI looks at his moderately well drawn picture smugly. He then turns to MAKOTO’s and sees it is beautifully drawn and without a single error visible. JINNAI turns from his drawing to MAKOTO’s repeatedly. JINNAI screams and snaps his drawing in half.
JINNAI’s face is becoming less stable.
A normal lunch time at SHINONOME HIGHSCHOOL. JINNAI is pushing through the crowds to get some lunch. Just then, he spots the last sandwich.
JINNAI
Hah ha!
Thinking that luck is finally on his side, JINNAI reaches for it. But before he can grab it, another hand takes it first.
JINNAI
Hey!
Surprise, surprise, the hand belongs to MAKOTO.
JINNAI
Again?!
JINNAI squeezes his milk in anger, causing the carton to drench his face.
JINNAI has snapped. He stabs a compass in the neck of the picture and tears it, triumphantly.
JINNAI
I loathe you, Makoto Mizuhara! You’re nothing! Less than nothing, yet you always get in the way of my superiority!
He leans against the notice board and tries to talk calmly.
JINNAI
You won’t win now... Not this time... I’ll show you! (creepily) It’s not that easy to get rid of me... Ohhhh, no. I think things would be a lot easier for me around here, without you... in the picture!
JINNAI starts laughing like a madman, gathering a small audience. He starts to choke at the end.
The sun is setting at the site of Shinonome Highschool.
The end of the school day. MAKOTO is finishing off at the school by taking things he needs from his locker. Suddenly, he finds something unusual in there.
MAKOTO
Huh?
It’s a letter. MAKOTO lifts it out and opens it. He reads it aloud. NANAMI’s voice and face overlaps this.
MAKOTO
"Dear Makoto, I’m not usually this forward..."
NANAMI
(V.O.)
"I’m not usually this forward, but I must talk to you. Meet me after school in the forest. I’ll be waiting. Nanami."
MAKOTO
I wonder what she wants to talk to me about... Ahah! Maybe she likes me!
But then MAKOTO has a thought.
MAKOTO
Ah, but her brother...
MAKOTO walks through the FOREST, calling for NANAMI.
MAKOTO
Nanami?
He ventures on further and sees something.
MAKOTO
Hmm?
JINNAI peaks out from behind a tree. He chuckles.
JINNAI
Well, if it isn’t Mr. Mizuhara...
MAKOTO reacts to this.
MAKOTO
Ahh! Jeez, Jinnai! What are you doing here? Did you write that letter?
JINNAI
Of course not. I’d never do a thing like that. I snuck into my sister’s room and stole one from her ample collection.
MAKOTO sighs.
MAKOTO
Creative Writing 101?
JINNAI shows MAKOTO a pile of letters.
JINNAI
Heh. I found one to Wada of the music club, and another to Hayashi of the science fiction club.
MAKOTO
(dryly)
That’s swell...
JINNAI
Huh.
JINNAI throws the letters over his shoulder.
JINNAI
A simple but effective ploy. It served the purpose of bringing my life long rival to me.
MAKOTO
A life long what?! Who me?
JINNAI grips a rope and grins. MAKOTO looks shocked and starts backing away from JINNAI.
MAKOTO
Ahhh! Whadda you want?!
JINNAI
I want you out of my hair. At least, until after tomorrow’s student government meeting is over. In clause 23 of the school by-laws, if no evidence is brought against me, my presidency is secure.
MAKOTO
But you can’t bend the law like that!
JINNAI
Oh yes, I can! The law must serve my purposes!
MAKOTO turns and runs off.
MAKOTO
Ahhhh!
JINNAI lunges for him and falls over.
JINNAI
Makoto!
And so, the chase was on.
FUJISAWA is on the night shift. Scattered around his classroom is a map, cigarettes and a bottle of wine. FUJISAWA hums happily, pours a glass, and takes a swig. He starts cleaning a pickax, when NANAMI calls to him from the corridor.
NANAMI
Yoo hoo! Mr. Fujisawaaa!
FUJISAWA quickly hides the bottle and turns to his student.
FUJISAWA
Oh, it’s you, Nanami. Well, what are you doing at this hour?
NANAMI giggles and sits in front of FUJISAWA.
NANAMI
You’re working the night shift. So, I made you some dinner and I brought it over.
NANAMI hands a lunchbox to FUJISAWA.
FUJISAWA
Ohhh, thanks!
He opens it and looks inside.
FUJISAWA
Wow! Now, this looks really great.
FUJISAWA tucks into the food, as NANAMI pours out some tea.
NANAMI
Tea, to wash it all down.
FUJISAWA takes the cup.
FUJISAWA
Y’know, I feel very lucky to have such an exceptional student like you.
FUJISAWA sets his lips to the cup and starts drinking.
NANAMI
That’ll be a thousand yen for the food and tea, please.
FUJISAWA splutters into the cup.
FUJISAWA
You mean, you’re charging me?
NANAMI
Well, a girl’s gotta earn a living!
MAKOTO is still being pursued by JINNAI.
MAKOTO
Ahhhh! Heeelp!
JINNAI
You can’t get away from me! I won’t let you run me out of office, just so you can take my place!
MAKOTO
What’re you talking about, huh?!
JINNAI
(breathless)
You’re always interfering in my life! All my plans get screwed up! Through out school, I’ve had to suffer from your one-upmanship! If it’s destiny, I’ll fight it, and the final victory will be mine!
MAKOTO
You’re insane! Someone help!
MAKOTO runs into a dead end.
MAKOTO
Oh, no.
JINNAI
Trapped like a rat.
MAKOTO
Ahh! Now, just calm down!
JINNAI pants and then runs a comb through his hair.
JINNAI
Don’t worry, I’m always calm. Y’see, I pride myself in being in control of situations!
JINNAI giggles and lunges for MAKOTO. MAKOTO screams as a strange effect washes over the high school.
MAKOTO
Huh?
He opens his eyes and notices that JINNAI is completely frozen.
MAKOTO
Katsuhiko? Hey? Hello? What the...
MAKOTO touches JINNAI’s stationary head.
MAKOTO
Huh?
MAKOTO taps JINNAI’s clenched fist. He then bends down and examines his leg, which hangs oddly in the air.
MAKOTO
Whoah. That’s cool. How do you do that?
MAKOTO raps against JINNAI’s foot 3 times. Looking around, everything in MAKOTO’s sight seems to be an odd blue colour, except himself.
MAKOTO
What the hell’s going on here? (to JINNAI) Are you dead or alive?
MAKOTO attempts to shake JINNAI, but it doesn’t work.
MAKOTO
Wake up! Come on! Hey! Come on!
MAKOTO taps the side of JINNAI’s face.
MAKOTO
Katsuhiko, snap out of it.
MAKOTO looks around, grabs a chair, and smashes it over JINNAI’s face. But, still nothing happens. MAKOTO finally sees that something very weird is going on.
MAKOTO
Say something! Or at least blink your eyes!
The strange magic used on the highschool has effected FUJISAWA and NANAMI. They are eerily frozen in place.
MAKOTO is trying to make his way through the empty and frozen corridors of the highschool, when he appears to hear someone speaking.
MAKOTO
What?
He turns around.
MAKOTO
Who’s there?!
He turns back the way he was going.
MAKOTO
You want me to go... this way?
He walks through the school for a while, before arriving at the entrance to the basement.
MAKOTO
Huh... The ruins?
MAKOTO clambers down into the basement and studies the wild markings and strange symbols of the ruins. Strange beams of light are shining from the patterned floor.
MAKOTO
Whoah.
MAKOTO looks across to the pillar at the end of the room.
MAKOTO
I’ll betcha... That’s it.
Walking across the strangely marked floor, MAKOTO starts getting caught up in the beams of light, that were perhaps protecting the pillar from intruders.
MAKOTO
Let go!
Whilst MAKOTO struggles to get away, the Eye symbol atop the room shines down on MAKOTO, unlocking the pillar. MAKOTO watches in amazement as the beams disappear, and from the pillar, a strange looking GIRL is revealed. She is very beautiful. The GIRL looks up, tears streaming down her face, and sees MAKOTO.
GIRL
Makoto, at long last, we meet.
The GIRL steps out from the pillar, and totters unsteadily towards MAKOTO. After reaching MAKOTO, the GIRL totally collapses and forces him to support her weight in a hug.
GIRL
Oh, I’ve waited so long for you. I’ve been patient these last ten millennia. This moment has finally arrived after ten thousand years.
MAKOTO
Uh, hey, what’s your name?
GIRL
You mean, you’ve forgotten? Through the endless nights I dreamt only of you. You, my dear Makoto.
She sighs happily and rubs his back with her hands.
GIRL
Time grows short. We cannot delay now. My powers have grown weak with the passage of years.
MAKOTO
What?
GIRL
You must prepare to embark on your journey. With my remaining strength, I shall send you to El-Hazard.
MAKOTO
What’s "El-Hazard"?
The GIRL doesn’t answer, and just glides back. She crosses her hands on her chest and closes her eyes. A wind starts to kick up in the chamber.
GIRL
Go now. Be safe.
MAKOTO
Wait a minute! Please tell me what’s happening!
GIRL
I know I can rely upon you, Makoto. I will carry you in my thoughts and heart, until our paths cross again.
The two stare at each other for a moment or two, before a brilliant white light engulfs MAKOTO completely.
MAKOTO
No!
Suddenly, MAKOTO starts to invisage many strange and odd characters. The last one being a regally dressed princess that seems oddly familiar...
The GIRL smiles one last time and the whole place explodes in light.
23. INT/EXT – SHINONOME HIGHSCHOOL – GROUNDS/CLASSROOM – NIGHT
This light travels through the basement and engulfs JINNAI, NANAMI and FUJISAWA as well.
24. EXT – PLANET MONTAGE
Planets, cosmic rays, and stars flash through their mind as they’re taken to...
25. EXT – EL-HAZARD – JUNGLE – DAY
EL-HAZARD - The Magnificent World. MAKOTO is greeted to this new strange place with a vibrant and lush jungle, ripe with vegetation and flora. He looks around.
MAKOTO
Wow.
Suddenly, MAKOTO hears rustling from a nearby thicket.
MAKOTO
Huh?
FUJISAWA
(O.S.)
Christ! Where the hell am I?!
FUJISAWA emerges from the bush, complete with lunch box and cup of tea.
FUJISAWA
That’s it with the cheap saké, I’m swearing off.
MAKOTO
Mr. Fujisawa! Hi.
FUJISAWA
Hi Makoto. So, what’ve you been up to lately?
FUJISAWA takes a swig from his cup of tea.
MAKOTO
I don’t really know... Gee. How did you get here?
FUJISAWA
I don’t know. One minute, I was eating...
FUJISAWA chucks the cup away.
FUJISAWA
... and suddenly, I was wrestling with a shrub.
FUJISAWA starts to finish eating the rest of the packed lunch.
FUJISAWA
(whilst chewing)
I’ve really gotta get back to school. I’m working nights, can’t keep the campus open.
MAKOTO
Y’know, something seems out of place around here. This might not be Japan, or even Earth at all!
FUJISAWA
(whilst chewing)
Uh huh. Have you been hanging out with Hayashi of the science fiction club?
FUJISAWA swallows and throws the box away.
FUJISAWA
Well, I gotta hit the road.
MAKOTO
And just exactly what road will you be traveling?
FUJISAWA
You think I don’t know?
A pause. FUJISAWA looks around and burps.
FUJISAWA
Okay, I don’t know. Well, we’ll just ask the next person that comes along.
They both turn as they hear a loud rummaging from a bush. A strange dinosaur like ANIMAL pops out from the bush and bounces straight past them, singing as it goes. The ANIMAL then dives into another bush. MAKOTO and FUJISAWA are speechless.
MAKOTO
Uh, sir. You didn’t ask him.
FUJISAWA
Y-you saw him too? I thought I had the DTs! I need a cigarette.
FUJISAWA produces a cigarette from his pocket and lights it.
FUJISAWA
(to himself)
Everything’s fine... relax... stay cool.
He inhales deeply, and then exhales through his nose.
FUJISAWA
That’s it! A drink! That’ll calm my nerves.
FUJISAWA searches through his pockets.
FUJISAWA
Where is it?
FUJISAWA removes his saké bottle from his tracksuit pocket...
FUJISAWA
Ah.
... only to find it empty. FUJISAWA gasps and staggers about.
FUJISAWA
Ah! Gone! No drink! I need a drink! I can’t live without it! I nee-eed a drink!
MAKOTO
Sensei...
Suddenly, they both hear a woman screaming.
MAKOTO
Hey!
FUJISAWA
Oh shit, someone else is out of alcohol!
Both MAKOTO and FUJISAWA start running off to the direction of the screams until they reach a seemingly empty opening. FUJISAWA soon sees the beautiful PRINCESS RUNE VENUS running through the jungle, crying for help.
RUNE
Help... me!
Suddenly, she falls to floor unconscious.
FUJISAWA
Hey lady, what happened? You all right?
RUNE is dressed in very fancy garbs, which leave little to the imagination. FUJISAWA becomes aware of this and becomes very red in the face.
FUJISAWA
(to MAKOTO)
Stop looking! You’re too young. Ah, I know how easily you kids get stimulated.
FUJISAWA puts a hand across his face.
MAKOTO
Hm?
MAKOTO points towards something off screen.
MAKOTO
Ahhh! Mr. Fujisawa, what’s that?!
FUJISAWA, quickly getting the wrong end of the stick, covers MAKOTO’s eyes with his arm and makes sure he can’t see RUNE.
FUJISAWA
Do I have to blindfold you? I told you not to look!
MAKOTO
No, I’m not talking about that!
MAKOTO grabs FUJISAWA’s head and points to the direction that MAKOTO was pointing at.
MAKOTO
Look over there!
An angry mob of giant insects, commonly known as the BUGROM, are charging towards FUJISAWA, MAKOTO and RUNE.
FUJISAWA
What in the hell do ya think of that?
MAKOTO
Let’s get outta here!
The BUGROM have other plans though. 3 of them launch themselves at the two humans. Oddly enough though, when FUJISAWA swats them away to protect himself, they fly a good 20 feet in the air.
FUJISAWA
Huh? What the...?
Unabated, more BUGROM charge forwards.
MAKOTO
Uh oh! Watch out!
As more and more BUGROM leap on to FUJISAWA, MAKOTO and RUNE, all FUJISAWA needs to do is give them a quick punch and they tumble off.
FUJISAWA
Huh... What’s going on?
MAKOTO
Wow, Sensei! That was really something!
FUJISAWA slaps his fist against his palm and runs off to test out more of this new "super strength".
FUJISAWA
Hahah! All right!
MAKOTO
Ahh! Don’t do it!
Many BUGROM try to protect each other by forming a picket line, but FUJISAWA easily dispenses of them.
MAKOTO
Man, how did he get so strong?
Using MAKOTO’s pause as an opportunity, a BUGROM lashes out at him. MAKOTO quickly runs off, trying to stay away from as many BUGROM as possible. Meanwhile, FUJISAWA is kicking more BUGROM ass. Suddenly, MAKOTO has an idea.
MAKOTO
Hey, if he’s super human, maybe I am!
MAKOTO punches a BUGROM defiantly. It doesn’t cause a single dent.
MAKOTO
Then again, maybe not!
And so MAKOTO resumes his cowardly running.
MAKOTO
Ahhhhh! Mr. Fujisawaaaaa!!!
FUJISAWA turns to see MAKOTO pursued by a swarm of BUGROM.
FUJISAWA
Dammit!
MAKOTO
I... need... help!
At this point, MAKOTO stumbles, and the viscous creatures loom over him. FUJISAWA runs to his aid.
FUJISAWA
Hang on, kid!
FUJISAWA gives the BUGROM another taste of his new ability and they suddenly start retreating.
MAKOTO
They’re leaving.
FUJISAWA
Damn, I was just warming up.
MAKOTO turns to hear people attending to RUNE.
MAKOTO
What the?
The two humans look on as many royal servant types help and tend to RUNE’s sleeping form. ROLL LONDS, chief of the royal servants, turns and greets the strangers. He kneels and looks up at FUJISAWA.
LONDS
(addressing FUJISAWA)
Brave warrior, we are forever in your debt for saving the life of our princess. From what kingdom do you hail?
LONDS notices MAKOTO and gasps.
LONDS
Incredible!
RUNE has finally recovers, and when she sees MAKOTO, she runs straight over to him, taking his hand happily.
RUNE
Oh! Fatora! Oh, you’re back!
MAKOTO
Huh?
RUNE
Dear Fatora, you’re home. I was so worried. Where were you?
MAKOTO
Uh oh. I’m afraid there’s some confusion. I’m not your friend Fatora.
RUNE
What? You’re not her?
MAKOTO
Uh uh. My name’s Makoto Mizuhara!
LONDS

FUJISAWA
Yeah, I can vouch for him. I should know, he’s one of my students, you see. Ah, I’m sorry. Where are my manners? I’m Masamichi Fujisawa, teacher at Shinonome State Highschool. Pleased to meet ya.
LONDS
This must be fate. It’s amazing. We were on our to consult a psychic this very day to learn the where abouts of Princess Fatora. Meeting you must be a sign from God.
RUNE
Yes.
FUJISAWA
Whatever you say. Perhaps you could help me with something. Just where exactly is this place? We really to get back to school ‘cause I’m sure some people are probably looking for us.
LONDS and RUNE don’t react.
FUJISAWA
Er, if not, maybe you could point us to the nearest subway station?
LONDS
Ah. No, no, no. We cannot let you return without paying you. That would be an embarrassment to the Royal House. Please allow us to take you both to our palace. We must reward you for your bravery.
FUJISAWA
Gee, that’s really nice of you. I appreciate it, but I’m on the night shift and I really can’t stay here.
LONDS
I will simply not take no for an answer. Come along. I am Londs, chief servant to the royal family.
LONDS chuckles and leads them to the HOVERBOAT.
FUJISAWA
But you don’t understand, I have a job to do.
LONDS
Prepare the transport at once!
25. ROSHTARIAN FOREST – HOVERBOAT – DAY
As the orange HOVERBOATS zip through the sky, LONDS treats FUJISAWA to drinks and MAKOTO to some answers.
MAKOTO
Is this El-Hazard?
LONDS
That’s right. It is our holy soil and has been such from ancient times. Enough of us, but tell me, this land from whence you came, I have no knowledge of it and I’m deeply curious to learn more about your country. (to FUJISAWA) Ah, I see you enjoy our wine.
FUJISAWA
(slurred)
Yeah, this is great stuff.
MAKOTO
(to himself)
But that girl... she said something about El-Hazard.
LONDS
The woman you rescued leads the many tribes of El-Hazard. She is Princess Rune Venus, a member of the royal family of Roshtaria, whose bloodline has long ruled this land.
MAKOTO
She’s royalty? No wonder she looks so beautiful.
As the wind outside blows softly, MAKOTO looks in awe at the beautiful ROSHTARIAN forest. Its animals, plants and surrounding seem to amaze the teenager.
FUJISAWA
(slurred)
Uh? What’s that?
LONDS
Do not be alarmed, we have reached the end of the forest, we approach Floristica, the royal city of Roshtaria.
The HOVERBOATS approach the beautifully designed Arabian palace. It truly is an amazing sight.
26. EXT – FLORISTICA – ROYAL PALACE – CORRIDOR – DAY
LONDS walks FUJISAWA and MAKOTO to a door, before stopping in front of it, causing them to bump into him.
LONDS
This way, please.
LONDS leads them inside, and then closes the door. Two GUARDS stand outside of the door.
LONDS
(to GUARD 1)
You, stand watch alone until he returns.
GUARD 1 nods.
LONDS
(to GUARD 2)
And I need you to summon the director of the Royal Academy, Dr. Schtalubaugh. Immediately!
GUARD 2
Sir!
27. EXT – THE PALACE – BALCONY – DAY
MAKOTO and FUJISAWA look onto the bustling streets of FLORISTICA. FUJISAWA lights up a cigarette.
FUJISAWA
Hmm. I wonder where we really are.
MAKOTO
Londs said this was El-Hazard.
FUJISAWA
(groans)
It might as well be Never Never Land.
MAKOTO
I hope we won’t be stuck here for long.
FUJISAWA
I hope we get back before I run out of smokes.
28. THE PALACE – MAIN DINING AREA – NIGHT
THE EYE OF GOD hangs silently in the sky, as LONDS and DR. SCHTALUBAUGH, the short old dean of ROSHTARIA, serve MAKOTO and FUJISAWA dinner, ROSTARIAN style.
LONDS
So you say you come from a world called... what was it? Earth?
FUJISAWA
Mmhmm. From beautiful downtown Shinonome.
SCHTALUBAUGH
That’s positively fascinating. If I understand, both you young men claim to have journeyed here from a distant world by means of crossing over dimensions?
FUJISAWA
Well, you know, that’s the best I could come up with.
SCHTALUBAUGH
Remarkable. That explains how you acquired your incredible power. It must be a side effect from the trip.
MAKOTO
(nudging FUJISAWA)
Yeah, you sure were kicking butt big time.
LONDS
Yes, we give praise to the man who uses such strength to defeat the odious Bugrom.
FUJISAWA
The "Bugrom"? Are you talking about those big bugs?
LONDS nods.
LONDS
Yes, they cast a long and evil shadow across our land. They’re our enemies.
MAKOTO
They are?
SCHTALUBAUGH
Our greatest strength lies in the surrounding countries of Rostaria. They are all allied against the Bugrom. However...
29. EXT – MONTAGE - BUGROM FORTRESS and LAND - NIGHT
This plays as SCHTALUBAUGH speaks.
SCHTALUBAUGH
(V.O.)
El-Hazard is divided in half by the Great Holy River of God. Beyond this body of water exists a mysterious and forbidden world. Long shrouded in ancient legend. No one from here has ever entered it. This is where the Bugrom, our fearsome enemy, have created their empire, one which is ruled by the supreme hand of Queen Diva. For age, upon age, we have fought an on-going battle against this nemesis to prevent their conquest of El-Hazard.
In the BUGROM FOREST, JINNAI is struggling to climb onto a brightly coloured platform. He has a bruise on his face, as he looks around.
JINNAI
Gahh. Shit. Where the hell am I? Makoto, you bastard, this is your handiwork.
JINNAI winces and rubs his wound.
JINNAI
Ah, shit! Why is this swelling?
From the bushes, the BUGROM plan their attack and advance on JINNAI.
JINNAI
Get away from me!
30. INT – THE PALACE – LIBRARY – NIGHT
MAKOTO and FUJISAWA are looking for solutions to getting back to earth with SCHTALUBAUGH. The library is so vast that books surround them. SCHTALUBAUGH shuts a book.
SCHTALUBAUGH
It is a quandary. There appears to be no means of returning you back to your world.
MAKOTO
What?
SCHTALUBAUGH
I’ve searched, but can find no method of manipulating dimensions. I wish we had the capability, but this technology is beyond our grasp.
MAKOTO
Are you sure?
SCHTALUBAUGH
Of course, I am! I am Dr. Schtalubaugh, the dean of Roshtaria Royal Academy and advisor to the royal family. I should know.
MAKOTO
But how was the girl I found at school able to send us here anyway? There just has to be a way of figuring out how she did it.
SCHTALUBAUGH
I’m afraid the point is my boy, we don’t know her link to El-Hazard and why and how she sent you. It makes no sense.
FUJISAWA
Well, that’s a problem, principal.
SCHTALUBAUGH
It’s dean, not principal.
FUJISAWA
At home, a missing teacher and student makes the damned headlines. What would the PTA ad Board of Education think, huh? You get my situation, don’t ya?
SCHTALUBAUGH, clearly, does not.
31. EXT - THE PALACE – ROYAL BALCONY – NIGHT
RUNE looks up into the night’s sky at the EYE OF GOD. She looks somewhat worried. Her cat is with her.
LONDS
Your Majesty, Mr. Mizuhara is here at your request.
MAKOTO, FUJISAWA and SCHTALUBAUGH are all present.
RUNE
I want to thank you for coming. My purpose for asking you here is entirely selfish. I have a favour to ask of you.
MAKOTO
Uh, what is it?
RUNE
First, I want you to see something.
RUNE turns her head to indicate a picture on the wall. MAKOTO and FUJISAWA follow suit and are astounded to find it is a picture of RUNE and, what looks like MAKOTO... in a dress with long hair?!
MAKOTO
But that looks... like...
FUJISAWA
Hey, kid! Why are you in drag?
MAKOTO
That’s what I’d like to know.
LONDS
This is a painting of her highness and her sister, Fatora. Your resemblance to her is quite astonishing.
MAKOTO
Sister?
FUJISAWA
It makes sense. That’s why everybody mistook you for her. Hey, where is this "Victora" character, anyway?
LONDS
Fatora is gone. She’s been missing for several days now, and we fear the worst. We suspect the Bugrom are involved in her disappearance. But we have no proof of this.
FUJISAWA
I-I’m so sorry. You have my sympathy, Princess.
RUNE
This was foretold in the holy apocalypse. When the Eye of God blinks, the path to sky will open up, and the shadow nation becomes one.
LONDS
According to legend, the Eye of God is the ultimate weapon. When two princesses of royal birth unite as one, the weapon is theirs to command.
The EYE OF GOD continues to loom in the sky as they speak.
32. EXT – BUGROM TERRITORY - BUGROM FOREST – NIGHT
JINNAI and the BUGROM have joined forces. They sit around a campfire, while JINNAI jokes with the insects like old friends.
JINNAI
Well, fellas, it looks like your troubles are over with Mr. Jinnai here to help ya.
JINNAI laughs. A BUGROM hands him a slab of food.
JINNAI
Huh?
JINNAI swipes it.
JINNAI
Thanks, pal!
JINNAI eats some of it and his eyes bug out. That must be some good BUGROM chow.
JINNAI
This stuff is the manner of the Gods!
JINNAI laughs again.
JINNAI
Yes, we’re gonna get a long just fine. Like bugs in a rug, hmm?
He cackles even more.
33. EXT – MONTAGE OF ANCIENT EL-HAZARD WARS – DAY
Technological buildings scatter this landscape. Suddenly, what seems to be a bolt of lighting rains down. More and more occur, destroying the buildings. The EYE OF GOD draws more and more power from its base.
SCHTALUBAUGH
(V.O.)
At one time in our history, those who ruled El-Hazard destroyed each other during the holy war. Now, but a memory, the devastating use of the Eye of God will never be forgotten.
34. INT – THE PALACE – ROYAL CHAMBER – NIGHT
The EYE OF GOD destroying buildings becomes a stationary illustration. SCHTALUBAUGH explains the EYE OF GOD to MAKOTO and FUJISAWA.
SCHTALUBAUGH
And because we posses this weapon, our enemies are held at bay. Even Queen Diva will not attack Rostaria as long as we maintain a unity of alliance. Namely that between the princesses, Rune Venus and Fatora.
MAKOTO
Wait a minute, I hope you’re not asking me, what I think you are.
LONDS
We asking you to help Roshtaria by impersonating Princess Fatora.
MAKOTO
Oh, is that what you had in mind for me all along?
LONDS
Please understand, if the countries leaders do not witness both princesses at tomorrow’s summit meeting, our fragile peace will be jeopardized.
MAKOTO
I won’t be someone’s sister! Find someone else for the job, all right?
RUNE
I beg of you. All of the tribes of El-Hazard face crisis.
MAKOTO
No way! I am not gonna dress up in girl’s clothing and pretend I’m a woman!
35. INT – THE PALACE – DUNGEON – NIGHT
MAKOTO and FUJISAWA are in jail. The doors close and both of them look shocked.
MAKOTO
(hoarsely)
Pretend I’m a woman?
FUJISAWA
Damn. And we got off to such a rosy start with them too!
MAKOTO
What are we gonna do now?
FUJISAWA
Don’t worry, my boy. My super human power will bring down this wall in one blow.
FUJISAWA punches the wall. Nothing happens.
MAKOTO
Oh, great.
FUJISAWA tries again and again, but to no avail. FUJISAWA spots a window hanging at the top of the cell.
FUJISAWA
Hmm. There! I’ll go for the skylight.
FUJISAWA jumps...
FUJISAWA
Fujisawa jump!
... but only falls over the edge. MAKOTO quickly grabs him.
MAKOTO
Oh, Sensei!
FUJISAWA
I—I don’t get it! What happened to all my super human powers?
36. EXT – BUGROM HIVE – NIGHT
The omnipotent BUGROM HIVE looks over the BUGROM TERRITORY like a huge control tower.
37. INT – BUGROM HIVE – THRONE ROOM – NIGHT
QUEEN DIVA, the Bugrom leader, lies across her throne. A small insect flies and kneels before her, buzzing.
DIVA
Really? Is that true?
The insect buzzes in confirmation. DIVA smiles.
DIVA
Interesting.
JINNAI is being led towards DIVA’s throne by a few BUGROM.
JINNAI
Well, am I supposed to be impressed?
The BUGROM troops kneel before DIVA as JINNAI approaches. DIVA gets up and stands, looking down on JINNAI.
DIVA
I am Diva. I’m queen. Ruler of the omnipotent Bugrom empire.
JINNAI
I am Katsuhiko Jinnai. The ruler of Shinonome High School.
DIVA
Oh! Could it be possible that your arrival in our palace is the long awaited advent?
JINNAI
(bluffing)
Well, er, sure! Of course, I am!
DIVA
If it’s true, tell me, are you then the messenger from God, sent to lead us?
JINNAI
Messenger, huh?
DIVA
I am asking you if you’re the messenger, sent to lead us to victory in battle against our enemies in El-Hazard.
JINNAI
Yeah! Victory and conquest. Now, that’s my kinda mission.
DIVA
Oh, it’s true, you’ve arrived!
The BUGROM begin cheering JINNAI on.
JINNAI
We will conquer our foes! I will lead you!
DIVA
Bugrom shall rule all. El-Hazard will finally become ours.
JINNAI
We will conquer them! Nothing will stand in our way! Yeah!
And the crowd goes wild. JINNAI’s place as BUGROM general is secured.
38. EXT – THE PALACE – ESTABLISHING SHOT - DAY
A new day dawns in the city of Floristica.
39. INT – THE PALACE – DUNGEON – DAY
Both MAKOTO and FUJISAWA are still imprisoned. MAKOTO is thinking to himself, whilst FUJISAWA rolls around on the floor, begging for a drink.
FUJISAWA
Ahhhh... a drink... I gotta have a drink...
MAKOTO
(to himself)
When the Eye of God blinks and the path to the sky opens up... and the shadow nation... becomes one... God blinks... Wait a minute! (to FUJISAWA) Hey, Mr. Fujisawa, what kind of weapon do you think that the Eye of God is?
FUJISAWA
Don’t know. I guess it’s some kind of ultimate weapon. Maybe it’s a nuclear bomb.
MAKOTO
Hey, I just got an idea.
FUJISAWA
A drink’s more important to me right now than your idea!
FUJISAWA gets up and stumbles about.
FUJISAWA
Aaahh... I need a drink! If I don’t get one I’m—
To FUJISAWA’s surprise, he manages to punch a hole straight into the wall. The GUARDS walk in and are amazed at what he’s done. FUJISAWA laughs nervously.
40. INT – THE PALACE – ROYAL CHAMBERS – DAY
MAKOTO is being dressed as PRINCESS FATORA. ATTENDANTS rap robes around his body, whilst applying accessories and make up to him. FUJISAWA sits watching, drinking some more lovely wine.
MAKOTO
I figured out what turns you into superman; being sober. The less you drink, the stronger you get.
FUJISAWA
That’s it? Well, I’ll be damned if that’s not a cursed gift.
FUJISAWA pours himself another glass.
FUJISAWA
By the way...
He takes a few gulps.
FUJISAWA
Just what changed your mind about wearing the disguise?
MAKOTO coughs as he has some sort of powder applied to his face.
MAKOTO
The Eye of God.
FUJISAWA
Huh?
MAKOTO
The path to the sky opens up, and the shadow nation becomes one. What I think this means is the shadow nation is another world that can overlap into this world, and vice versa.
FUJISAWA
Huh? Come again?
MAKOTO
The Eye of God is a weapon, right? Maybe it’s able to drill through the dimensional wall.
FUJISAWA
Then if we can somehow get a hold of this weapon, we could theoretically get back to Earth.
MAKOTO
So, we just play along. And that’s our plan.
The ATTENDANTS have finished dressing MAKOTO. They bow and walk off.
ATTENDANT 1
(whilst exiting)
They’ll never get away with it.
ATTENDANT 2
(whilst exiting)
I know.
FUJISAWA stands to see the PRINCESS FATORA look-a-like in all her—er, his glory. He does look very convincing to the girl in the painting. FUJISAWA hoots and hollers, showing mock appreciation.
FUJISAWA
Hooooo! Hey, baby, how about a little date? Woo woo woo!
MAKOTO
Don’t you dare talk to me like that!
41. INT – THE PALACE – RUNE’S CHAMBER – DAY
RUNE sees MAKOTO for the first time in his FATORA garb. FUJISAWA, SCHTALUBAUGH, LONDS and the 2 ATTENDANTS accompany him.
RUNE
You’re so beautiful.
MAKOTO
(unsure)
Uh, thanks a lot. It’s so nice of you to say so.
RUNE
Now, you needn’t be nervous. Just relax. You’ll take your place next to me and everything will be fine. You’re very pretty.
MAKOTO
(unsure)
I know...
From the other side of the room, the door opens. In steps PRINCE GALUS, a handsome young royal from another important EL-HAZARD country.
GALUS
Ah, princess.
RUNE
Galus! You know that only the royal house is allowed in here.
GALUS
Oh, can’t you bend the rules for your own fiancé?
GALUS notes MAKOTO, dressed as FATORA and falters. What could this mean? He quickly composes himself and continues his conversation with RUNE.
GALUS
When I heard about the attack made on your yesterday, I was so worried that I rushed here at once.
RUNE
Oh.
GALUS
I’m so relieved. If anything ever had happened to you, my love... I... I’d just...
RUNE
Your thoughts are very much appreciated, dear Galus.
GALUS
But I thought your pilgrimage was kept secret. How did the Bugrom find out?
RUNE
I wish I knew.
GALUS
Perhaps there’s a spy in our midst.
RUNE
I pray not.
GALUS
Dear, I’ll be here to protect you.
LONDS clears his throat, breaking the moment slightly.
LONDS
Pardon me, Galus. Her royal majesty still needs to prepare before the meeting.
GALUS
Ah, I’ve interfered. I’ll take my leave.
Just before GALUS goes, he turns back to MAKOTO.
GALUS
Oh, and Princess, you’re lovely as usual.
MAKOTO tries to giggle like a woman. Badly.
GALUS
So, Princess, where were you during your sister’s terrible ordeal?
He giggles again. RUNE and LONDS sense that MAKOTO isn’t handling this well.
LONDS
I’m afraid the Princess was taken ill and bed rest was prescribed for several days.
GALUS
I’m sorry to hear that. Had I known, I would have certainly brought medication immediately.
MAKOTO
(falsetto)
Oh, how nice, but I don’t want to be a burden.
GALUS
My, your voice sounds strange.
MAKOTO quickly mocks coughing, trying to cover up his terrible impression of being a woman.
MAKOTO
(falsetto)
It’s just the cold, it affected my throat, but I’m just fine, thanks.
GALUS
How wonderful. If you have your health, you have everything.
GALUS exits. LONDS watches him go, with slight suspicion. MAKOTO is relieved that he’s gone
MAKOTO
That was close.
The door opens again and SCHTALUBAUGH enters.
FUJISAWA
So, that cupcake is the guy she’s gonna marry?
LONDS
He is a prince of royal lineage, and the heir to a kingdom.
SCHTALUBAUGH
Well, I for one don’t like him.
RUNE
That is enough! All of you.
SCHTALUBAUGH
But it’s the truth!
RUNE
I must do what is best for the kingdom. It is my royal obligation.
42. INT – THE PALACE – CORRIDOR – DAY
GALUS is leaving. He turns back to the RUNE’S CHAMBER door.
GALUS
The plans have taken a turn.
42. INT – THE PALACE – RUNE’S CHAMBER – DAY
An ATTENDANT whispers something to LONDS.
LONDS
Oh. All right. (addressing everyone) Everyone attending the conference has arrived. We should join them as soon as possible.
RUNE
Yes, Londs. (to MAKOTO) Come along.
MAKOTO
Wait. There’s something that I have to take care of.
LONDS
What’s that?
MAKOTO
Uh, I, um... I have to use the little girl’s room?
LONDS
We’ve delayed the conference long enough. They’ll grow suspicious if they wait any longer.
LONDS moves to drag MAKOTO away.
LONDS
Now, let’s go, enough of this.
MAKOTO
Ahh, yeah, but I’ve had to go since this morning!
LONDS
Well, why didn’t you think of that before? We’re having a family crisis here.
LONDS drags MAKOTO to the conference.
43. INT – THE PALACE – CONFERENCE ROOM – DAY
COUNTRY LEADERS are sat around a huge rectangle of water. They mutter amongst themselves.
MALE LEADER 1
Have you heard rumours?
MALE LEADER 2 nods his head in response. Two GUARDS open the main doors and RUNE and MAKOTO enter. LONDS, FUJISAWA and the ATTENDANTS follow. MAKOTO really has a time of keeping his blander in control, but LONDS quickly sorts him out. Both RUNE and MAKOTO sit before the LEADERS.
RUNE
Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you for coming so far. The purpose of this summit meeting today is to address the potential threat that El-Hazard and it’s allies face. Namely invasion from the Bugrom forces.
MAKOTO really isn’t keeping it together. That boy must need to pee, badly.
RUNE
But we still maintain the upper hand. So long as we control the Eye of God, victory over the enemy is insured.
MALE LEADER 3
Your Majesty, do you truly intend to employ such a lethal weapon if provoked?
RUNE
Yes, I do. And I’m aware of its destructive capability and the past consequences. We must evaluate any drastic action.
MALE LEADER 3
But some Bugrom divisions are already close at hand. Villages and small towns are falling as they advance from the outskirts. You can’t deliberate the subject, there isn’t any time.
MALE LEADER 4
I agree with him. You should give us proof that you will use the Eye of God if the circumstances call for it.
RUNE
My sister and I together are the only ones who can deploy this weapon. When that becomes necessary, it will be for the allied defense.
MAKOTO continues to struggle against nature and the LEADERS are looking at him a very odd way.
FEMALE LEADER 1
But princess, my people need proof. And they will only be convinced of your intentions if you remove the shield from the weapon. Proofing that you’re really ready to strike with it.
MALE LEADER 4
She’s right. This will appease all sides.
FEMALE LEADER 1
My point, your highness.
The LEADERS start talking loudly. Most of them asking for the shield to removed. RUNE looks over to SCHTALUBAUGH, who nods.
RUNE
Very well, then. Your voices are heard. I will send my sister to the three holy sages and have the shield removed.
MAKOTO reacts.
MALE LEADER 4
Excellent. She is a perfect candidate for this mission.
MAKOTO tries to play along with this.
MAKOTO
(falsetto)
Well, I’m glad to do whatever I can to help. I’ll go see the old guys if you want.
MALE LEADER 4
The old guys?
FEMALE LEADER 1
I don’t understand. I always thought that the sages were priestesses.
MAKOTO
(falsetto)
Uh, yeah, well, I forgot. Silly me. It’s been such a long time between visits.
MALE LEADER 4
A long time?
FEMALE LEADER 1
Your Majesty, do you mean to say that you’ve already been to Mount Muldoon?
MAKOTO

(to himself)
Oh, shit. (addressing the LEADERS) If I may speak. We would not conceal information from you. In preparation for this event, Princess Fatora privately sought counsel with the priestesses.
MALE LEADER 4
Ah, planning a strategy.
MALE LEADER 5
Glory to the Alliance!
ALL LEADERS
Glory to the Alliance! Glory to the house of Roshtaria!
MAKOTO really needs to go at this point.
44. INT – THE PALACE – CORRIDOR – DAY
MAKOTO is being chased by a lot of unwanted ATTENDANTS. They ask if he wants anything, but he’s pretty set on what he wants to do.
ATTENDANTS
Princess Fatora, wait! What’s wrong?
MAKOTO
I’m fine! I don’t need your help! Now, quit following me, will ya?!
MAKOTO arrives at a doorway.
MAKOTO
(to himself)
Oh, which way? Left or right? Dammit all! Where the hell is the head?!
GUARD 1
Excuse me, Princess, is there a problem?
MAKOTO giggles in falsetto and quickly makes his leave. The GUARD looks baffled.
MAKOTO
I can’t hold it any longer. Oh, where is it?
MAKOTO finally arrives to what seems to be the rest room.
MAKOTO
Ah, finally.
MAKOTO opens the door, only to find... ATTENDANTS. A lot of ATTENDANTS leading the way up to a royal toilet. MAKOTO, quite rightly, faints.
45. EXT – THE PALACE – FOUNTAIN GARDENS – DAY
LONDS is looking for MAKOTO. He spies him splayed on the floor, looking the worse for wear.
MAKOTO
(to himself)
I’m burned out.
LONDS
Where have you been? We’ve searched the entire palace for you.
MAKOTO
Huh? Go awaaay.
LONDS
Listen, Princess, will you please get up? We are late.
MAKOTO
(hoarsely)
Huh?
LONDS reads from a schedule.
LONDS
We are late for your appointment to attend a review of the military troops now. Then, you have a luncheon date with the head general of the army. After that, you have a lesson scheduled to teach you about El-Hazard protocol and royal etiquette. Then, this evening, there’s a reception dinner and ball...
The pressure becomes too much for MAKOTO and he screams. Loudly.
46. EXT – GREEN LANDSCAPE – DAY
An entire fleet of BUGROM and BUGROM aircraft approach the isolated piece of land. Thousands, upon thousands of brightly coloured insects march their way across the landscape. And atop the head aircraft, JINNAI points their way to victory.
JINNAI
El-Hazard shall be ours for the taking! Nothing shall stand in our way! March on, my legions!
JINNAI builds up to a massive laugh that echoes around the land.
47. EXT – DESERT – DAY
NANAMI is in trouble. She’s also been warped to EL-HAZARD and she’s alone in this new weird place, with no friends or means of getting out.
NANAMI
Ohh... uhh... I need water.
She’s also dehydrating in a desert. She reaches a nearby stall with a MAN smoking a pipe.
NANAMI
Oh god... water... Oh... Oh, thank god.
She drops the stick that she was using as an aid to walk and offers the pipe smoker a Japanese note. The MAN takes the note and blows his nose on it. Oh dear.
NANAMI
Oh, why does my life have to be so hard in every world?
48. EXT – FLORISHTICA – ESTABLISHING SHOT – NIGHT
The first hard day of being PRINCESS FATORA is over for MAKOTO.
49. EXT – THE PALACE – FATORA’S ROOM – NIGHT
MAKOTO falls straight into his bed.
MAKOTO
Ughhh. Just let me die now.
He crawls into bed, muttering to himself.
MAKOTO
(to himself)
I don’t think I’ll ever dream about women again.
However, on the other side of the room, unbeknownst to MAKOTO, sits a pretty YOUNG GIRL. She gets up and removes her heavy clothes to reveal a sensual, skimpy outfit.
MAKOTO continues muttering as something crawls into his bed(!).
MAKOTO
(to himself)
I’m not – never will be a girl. I want my manhood back.
MAKOTO suddenly sees the "something" that is crawling around his bed.
MAKOTO
Huh? What the? Who’s in there?!
MAKOTO tears the covers off to reveal the YOUNG GIRL from the corner. She licks his stomach seductively. Welcome to EL-HAZARD, Makoto.
