Sooooooo, Robby boy, buddy, pal...

When are you gonna share that doujinshi you were talking about on the update page? I'm sure our resident Shayla and Afura fans are quite curious... *evil grin*

Rob: Might as well bring the crowd...

Ha.  I have to get around to scanning it.  Perhaps I'll need to move the scanner currently hooked to my brother's machine in here to do it.  (Parental vision is not a good thing...)

But you have to understand, when I say disturbing about Afura and Shayla, this stuff is major "augh".  At least for me.

Jinnai lucks out okay in his little story though.

First, I must do my part.

HENTAI WARNING

Okay, set up a scanner and all that in the privacy of my El-Hazard Temple AKA my small, little room with one window.

So anyway.

Front Cover
Back Cover

Good.  Now, with that out of the way... on to this freaky doujinshi thing.

There are two "stories" in this one.  The first one takes up most of the book, featuring Shayla and Afura action.  Now, by default, we'd think "ah, fan-induced lesbianism."  We'd only be so lucky.  No, what unravels here is something the author decided to introduce.  The best guess I got is something along the lines of "We wanna do each other.  But we just got standard issue female hardware which doesn't work well.  What's that Staulabaugh?  If we blast each other we grow penises?  Well, let's do it!"
And thus the two page battle sequence goes.  And there we are.
Then later apparently Afura "gives" her length to Shayla to trade back for her original starting equipment.  Because apparently you're allowed to do that with this mystical penis gaining ability.

Alright.  Now that's over.  The next story, a very short one that fills out the remainder of the book.  Fortunately for those of us who were at least mildly bothered by penis growing priestesses, this one is refreshingly normal in its own right.  Page 24 kind of suggests something like "Well, we all know how sweet and happy Makoto became on finding his Ifurita... now let's see how Jinnai feels about HIS!"

Overall, this books is actually very well drawn.  I mean, ya gotta admit, things look like a lot better than my current Runey avatar to the left.  I just could've really done without the overall theme of that first story.  ;p

Dear Japanese people:

Please stop exploring your sexuality. It really freaks us out.

Heh.  Not like it's MY fault this artist wanted to twist such issues.  ;p

...

However, this only further renews the desire to forge ahead and cover new territory, discovering the new and bizarreness that is the Sexuality in El-Hazard! ... or not.  Either way, I'll be watching eBay for Doujinshi's anyway because I'm a collector now and that's what I do.  :P  Sorry this was the FIRST one I got... I could've possibly had another tonight, but it got unlisted for some reason.  There's a third one up at the mo', but for some reason they only take "Verified PayPal" payments.  Bleh.  I not only can prove I've paid off several people before you guys, but even one other doujinshi seller to boot!  So what's wrong with my unverified'ness? ;p

That was completely disgusting. I am appaled beyond words. Such wanton use of screentone!!!!! That stuff cost a fortune per roll! It's like the artist is just throwing money away!

Oh yeah, and the she-male-ism is pretty fucked up too. ^_^;;;; I simply don't understand the japanese fascination with she-males. They appear far more often in hentai and doujinshi than is necessary. Just when you sit down and think you're about to enjoy a nice, wholesome lesbian hentai like Parade Parade, the girl whips out a dong bigger than yours and all your friends' combined. O_O; At any rate, this story must be rather old. Notice the marked abscence of certain "key details?" ^^;

And the second story.... yeah OK. Whatever. Kinda freaked me out at first though. When I saw OVA Iffy, I was like "HERESY! HERESY!!!"

Enlighten me; how does this indicate age? :P

Right.  Compared to she-males, it suddenly went to something so incredibly, relatively plain.  Although I personally found it relieving to go to something so normal after the initial shock value wore off.

Up until the last couple years, the Japanese goverment banned the depiction of pubic hair and genitalia in nearly everything; anime, manga, photography, pornography, etc....... Thus, the frequent use of composite editing (the infamous "fuzzy dot"), highly artistic depictions of penetration shots and climax and things like dark-skinned Shayla with a blank white outline that somewhat resembles a phallus in shape (yes, kiddo isn't the only one around here who watches hentai). This also created the "panty shot" phenomenon, that is synonymus with anime. Since artists couldn't depict the female anatomy in enough detail to satisfy male curiosity, they relied on panty shots. Things just evolved from there. And these days, they can be quite detailed, even in anime aimed at a younger audience.

For more on the history and evolution of the panty shot, please see the hysterical, informative and entertaining "Even a Monkey Can Draw Manga!"

In the meantime, Japanese censorship standards have relaxed. Which is why, these days we see unedited japanese porn and hentai like Koihime that go off the hook in detail.

Ah.  That explains a lot.  I always thought "fuzzy dot-ing" was just a gimmick like adding some sort of mock realism.  :P  "Har!  This be genitalia!  Must be fuzzied cause we're pretending we're on public television or something!  Nyar!"

Btw, semi-humorous typo: "... the Japanese goverment banned the depiction of public hair ..."  ;)

Incidentally Rob, where did that Rune avatar you're using come from? It's not bad in itself, except the artist used the the wrong mouth for her, so to speak. That long, wavery mouth line is usually reserved goofy and lecherous type male chara. Unless he had some creative re-characterization in mind. ^^;

Also, were you able to discover the artist's name or get somebody to translate it? The cover art style smacks a bit of Johji Manabe. Though he's been pro for years, he still does doujinshi from time to time (it would be nice if he finished Drakuun though -.-). Although, to my knowledge, he's never done any El Hazard doujinshi. Lum on the otherhand....... O_O;

Another doujinshi.

I'd buy this one ... except ...

1) It's $24 starting AND
2) It features another anime I don't care about AND
3) The drawing style is obviously funky

Actually, ultimately, it's just #1 that's keeping me from buying it.  Well, #1 in conjunction with 2 or 3.  $24 is a lot to ask of me at this time... although for sheer lack of doujinshi availability, I'm half tempted to splurge.

But I mean... look at Jinnai.  He's pulling Nanbara-esque positions on me here! ;p

Stop right there.  I wish I had somebody to just randomly tranlsate Japanese for me.  ;)  But I don't.  Fortunately for you, however, the eBay seller kindly provided the name.  It doesn't appear to be who you thought, though.  Also, for the record, when I'm looking to buy doujinshi's, I don't think the first thing I'm looking at is the artist's name.   ;D

Oh, hey.  The one I had intended to bid on this Sunday just got relisted.  I wonder why they unlisted it in the first place... I'm not entirely sure, but I think it was cheaper before... ;p  They changed the preview picture too.  It used to include a shot of Afura's expressions of ... activity.  Any chance there's an eBay policy that might've hit them for that?

Oh, Hirano-sensei! What a naughty boy! ::suddenly cringes in fear at the thought of a Hellsing doujinshi:: The other anime, BTW is Shin Seiki.... I mean Neon Genesis Evangelion. One of the most "doujinshi'd" anime in history. There are several professionally published, long running doujinshi of Evangelion. A group of fans even produced their own Evangelion hentai video (there's a Ranma 1/2 one also). As for the art style, yeah it is ....umm, different. Then again, some of the stories in El Hazard Anthology Comic are pretty weird looking too.

Well, that's a relief. Wouldn't be too much trouble to tell us who the artist is, would it? I mean, while we're on the subject and all. ^^;;;

That's Alliele, BTW. Not Afura. You can tell by her hair and clothing (what's left of it).

No, I was talking about the one that got delisted then relisted, not the funny looking one.   (I'd show a picture of what I was talking about, but it's gone, as noted.  ;))I'm well aware that's Alielle.  Who appears to be getting good ol' hentai treatments.

Yeah.  I'm not sure if that's like "doujinshi that AIC liked too" or "doujinshi from some of the people who don't actually draw the show but worked on it anyway" or some type of contest or something else... I have no idea what it is.  But it doesn't appear to be all the official art people yet is licensed by AIC.  So...
