El-Hazard Online / Re: Which series next?

No, there is a boxed set for Alternative World. I see it every time I go over to Suncoast and search for volume 4 of "Last Exile". :)

El-Hazard Online / Playing the game

I've been playing EHPC for a few days now, and all I can say is that Makoto isn't the only "bad boy" running around...

My wife, who has next to no interest in EH, keeps wondering why I burst out laughing at odd intervals, and I'm at a loss to explain why.

Fascinating translations, to be sure...

You can pin me in St. Louis until June 20...at which point I'll be stationed in Omaha, NE for the foreseeable future.

Sigh.

Afura asks: "Did you make enough cake for everyone?"

Happy birthday!

Don't know if anyone's posted this link before, but it was mentioned on the Ayeka Fan Club bulletin board:

https://secure.pmoon.co.jp/TOUSHINDAI/

Click on the fifth picture down, then on the subsequent page, scroll down to the 11th series of pictures.

Apparently it's life-size...

Okay. Just for fun (and because I'm extremely pissed about something at work that I need to calm down about), I tried to tally people's choices as best I could and came up with this list:

1  El-Hazard (11)
2  Tenchi Muyo (9)
3  Love Hina (5)
4  Trigun (4)
   Evangelion (4)
6  Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu (3)
   Ah My Goddess (3)
   Cowboy Bebop (3)
   Slayers            (3)
   Revolutionary Girl Utena (3)
   Sailor Moon (3)

What I also find interesting is that, so far as  I can tell, about 72 individual series have been listed so far.

3) Neon Genesis Evangelion
4) Tenchi Muyo!
5) Trigun
6) Read or Die
7) Last Exile
8) Someday's Dreamers
9) FLCL
10) Noir

Be glad your hair is staying around long enough to turn grey, JSM.  Adcock has met me in RL, and it's becoming obvious my job requires I wear a hard hat all day.  >:(  They say one ought to look to one's maternal grandfather to determine the future for one's hair (or in my case, lack thereof.)  My grandfather was bald by the time he was 35, though he lived to be 98.  I'll take the longevity, thanks.  ;)

I don't bitch about the grey to my cousin, who was bald by 20. He recently gave up and just shaved his entire head; subsequently, my wife went on and on about how sexy it made him look. :o

Anyone heading to the heartland heading for Anime Iowa in September?  I should have a weekend pass from my signal school in Kansas City so I'd like to attend.

I'll be living in Omaha by then, so it's a decent bet that I'll make it (assuming, of course, RL doesn't get in the way).

And Monica Rial is one of my favorite VAs.  Her portrayal of Izumi in Princess Nine easily made her one of my all time favorite characters.

I'm a big Hiatt fan from Excel Saga. And reading Monica's LiveJournal is never dull, let me tell you.

And I didn't know I was just a year older than you, Rob-- I figured you were quite a bit older, up there with Eric and Jeff or something. :]

Damn whippersnappers...

For the record, I had actually meant the last picture to be Shayla grabbing Knuckles tail, not spanking.  That was Neil's wonderful interpretation.  :P

But you know, when I wrote "No Thanks for the Memories" under the nom de plume of "Seto of Jurai", the ONE THING people kept commenting on (positively) was the scene where Afura was spanking Shayla.

I'm not sure how to interpret the enthusiastic response to that idea, nor am I sure I want to even try...

You overwrote it, not me.  Fortunately for you, however, the old copy of the site I still have contains that picture.  I've restored it to an avatar slot you weren't using and ... well, there you go.

FYI, that picture is actually from an AIM DirectConnect session me and Neil had a long time ago that I saved...

At this point in my life, I'd settle for anything other than Encroaching Gray in my hair. Jeez, even my chest hair is turning silver.

I console myself by looking in the mirror and saying, "You know, it's very similar to George Clooney", but that just ain't cuttin' it one bit. :)

I'm sorry--didn't mean for you to think I was bashing Evangelion. Quite the contrary, I think it's an incredible series that deserves all the praise it receives. I just don't understand why so many male fans find Rei so fascinating.

I mean...my God, why settle for that when you could have a redhead? ^_^V

But I had an odd experience with the EVA contingent that still leaves me scratching my head. I wrote a humorous story called "Semper Ubi, Sub Ubi" (Latin for "Always Wear, Under Wear" for them not in the know). Basic premise is that Touji and Kensuke force Shinji into a bet--he has to produce a pair of Asuka's panties by the next day or terrible things will come to pass. Got some good response from it on ff.net, and a few buddies suggested I submit it to evafics.org.

Boy, was that ever a mistake.

You'd have thought I'd pissed on Gendo's orange goo from their reaction. :)

(And can someone explain why fanboys find Evangelion so fascinating?)

Beats me, but I'll tell you one thing: they sure as hell don't like humorous stories. :)

o.O I don't even want to imagine what they do with those things.

Probably activities that (hopefully) require them to be washed four or five times a week.

Again, the key word is "hopefully".

(And can someone explain why fanboys find Rei so fascinating?)
