No male will probably ever get away without pointing that out... original OAV had 'em, don't know why this didn't... unless it's just related to all the Wanderers-ification of the animation. (easier to go without?) It could also be something related to the fact they didn't want it to spontaneously turn in to total hentai, so they lowered their pelor=sion count slightly by dilluting the image... dunno.
One would be apt to site that this is a TV series. So it would have more restrictions. Although I don't believe that this episode actually aired in Japanese TV? And I have seen nipples in TV anime before, so...... Hmmmm.

HORRAY, someone who actually cares! Seriously, that's great to hear, when I'm only a few steps away from completing my Windows PC reverse-engineer port.

Very interesting points you all have. I personally feel though, that Ifurita is cloned/blueprinted/other from Qawoor's people, rather than from Qawoor herself. That is assuming (quite rightly) that Qawoor's tribe are descendants of the ancient people of El Hazard, who built/created/whatever Ifurita. Which would explain the similar appearence, powers and such.

It is true though, that OVA 1 has one of the most thorough, complete and satisfying enedings of any anime. Kinda of like the Escaflowne TV series. It has a solid progression and a clean ending. A complete and total story from beginning to end, with no logic room for a sequel.

Actually, the change in uniform isn't a plot element, it's more...
A) the animators not paying attention/caring
B) A different team
C) Underfunded team seeking alternative representation for simpler animation
Or some combination of those.
(Sounds like a Wanderers Jinnai title "Operation Alternative Representation for Simpler Animation")
The only "official" El-Hazard is OAV1 and, to a lesser extent, OAV2. Everything else was made by someone else on some other contract. True dat. Tends to bring Tenchi Muyo: Manatsu no Eve (AKA Daughter of Darkness) to mind, doesn't it? FYI, Ifurita DID make one short appearance in AW episode 1, and one short appearance way out at the end when Allujah was trying to get Makoto NOT to seal the Eye. But yeah, she wasn't an active character. But in all fairness, how could she be? Unless you want cutscene "meanwhiles" that note Ifurita's progress... Oh come on Rob, that doesn't count! Those scenes were just cruel teasers! At the time, I was really counting on Alternative World delievering all that was promised at the very end of OVA 1. And the opening animation in addition to spoilers on the El Hazard Mailing List didn't help matters in my poor, Ifurita-obsessed mind. Alot of those "spoilers" though ended up being open speculation only (including the odd one about everyone dying at the end).

Not really; just me, Neil, and Hedges are far as I know, and it's more or less Sonic the Hedgehog specific. Perfect Chaos Zero posted like once, but him too. Hedges lurks more then anything now. I myself am not really affilated with any Sonic groups anymore, but I know about the stuff well enough.
I'm a longtime Sega fan/devotee, since Sega Master System. So naturally I'm down with Sonic. Speaking of, this is totally off-topic, but I've recently been playing another Sega flagship/remake title Panzer Dragoon Orta. Gawd, it's simply the best game ever!

I'm one of those people who always figured "Boys Be Free" was just a lesbian-power song! But, Makoto Mizuhara actually has a very good theory in his post above. And one the subject of dubbed openings and endings, call me a purist if you will, but I'm SO GLAD that Pioneer USA finally stopped doing that!

I actually know alot of people who slam OVA 2 and find Alternative World to be a better fair. I feel quite the opposite. Aside from the priestesses' costumes and items having more in common with wanderers than the OVA, the animation, fight scenes, BGM and such are all on par with OVA1. And people have also gripped about the fact that there are suddenly more than one Ifurita. But hey, if you're an Ifurita fan like I am, what's there to complain about? Go to El Hazard and awaken your very own Ifurita! *EHEM* but I digress, it's a great anime in it's own right. And it is just a side story, after all. So it's impratical to even compare it seriously to the first OVA.

Well, I just discovered this place yesterday. But you seem to be doing an incredible job so far! I could never have done a better site myself. That is, if I can drag myself away from the forums long enough to download some of the movies form the game and view the rare book scans! Yeah, I just love to talk way too much. ^_^;
