True, Afura certainly was a background chara in the OVA! Aside from making a few smart ass comments in the Japanese version (a trait which seems to all but disappear in Wanderers). Funny though, that this doesn't really seem to come off as much in the dub. Then again, I haven't watched the dub in years so.....

Yup, that's the mystery Ifurita. To me, she loks like the type of girl who would be into "Seduce n' Run" Like, who would hit frivously on any man she could find. Thas my Ifu-chan!!!  ;D

Heh  ;D Wouldn't that be a personality that contrasted sharply with the other two! Personally, I go for the devoted, wait for you for 10,000 years type. That's the girl for me!

Ifurita-1 = OVA 1
Ifurita-2 = OVA 2
Ifurita-3 = OVA 3 (AKA "Saucer and Ifurita's Magical Vacation Adventure")
Defective Prototype = Wanderers

I'll take Wanderers Ifurita. Or better yet, the mystery Ifurtia.  ;D They're both really cute!

Mystery Iffy? You mean the one in the center of this pic? http://www.el-hazardonline.net/cgi-bin/register/eholmemberfile.cgi?getfile=anthology/page002.jpg;type=jpeg
Heh, I often wondered about her myself. Older, like OVA Iffy. But same hair and headband as TV Iffy. I always assumed it was Iffy from the game, until I saw Rob's screenshots.

Anyway, went through eBay, came across a 300MHz G3 machine for about $200... I won't be purchasing anytime soon, but I'm giving you my general level of expectance.  I'm thinking 233MHz or more is a safe number for porting, but I also don't know the programming stuff available for Macs, so unless I'm getting one free or really cheap, there's a bit of research I'm going to have to do first.

Yeah, 233MHz would be sufficient. Although I would personally go with a 350MHz or later DV model (the ones with the slot-loading "jukebox" style CD/DVD-rom drive in front, rather than a tray-loading) if you can find one  really cheap. Simply because, you only have to open up a door in the back to add more RAM. With the earlier G3s, you have to take the whole thing apart and handle the motherboard just to add RAM. And those early models will only take up to 192MB RAM total. The later ones can handle up to 1 GB RAM.

And as far as programming goes, I'd love to help you if I could. But to be honest with you, I couldn't really program my way out of a paper bag. ^_^; Let me know if you have any other Mac related questions I can help with. BTW, if you need cheap RAM, try http://www.ramseeker.com

OSU!! Thanks for the links Rob and Makoto! I usually avoid picking radio dramas, because I don't know enough Japanese to follow them. And they're rather expensive (plus import books at least have pictures ^^; ). But well, it's El Hazard, so.......

For the OVA Ifurita fans...

Looks like Ifurita went shopping! What does that bag in her hand say? That staff and costume are pretty intricate. ^_^

I see she took some liberties with her costume and hair colors. Very interesting!

I can see where Afura would be good for almost any pondering, and I don't mind the Wanderers definition of a heavy reader.  In that sense, the author brought it out fairly well, without having to carry extra baggage from Wanderers I DON'T care for (the silly "competition" with Shayla, the overall bitchiness, etc...)

I always found it amusing that, when AIC takes one of their OVAs and makes a TV series out of it, they take the characters personalities and blow them totally out of proportion. *COUGH*battleathletes*COUGH*

Well, it makes sense, they're both so smart, but enough of that. I see no reason why Xellos and Filia work. Last year at the con, my sis and I dresses as Xel and Filia, and so I will forever be known to the Nan-Desu-Con-Glomp-Club as "Filia".

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I simply do not like Xellos. ^^;

I'd gladly do it... if I owned a Mac that had a processor better then the ol' 68030.

Nothing against Macs except that other than porting for other people I have absolutely no use for them... I need a cheap one somewhere or somebody to give me their now uneeded Mac... as long as it's something relatively modern instead of Geyer Printing's throw-outs.

Well, if you didn't need a CD/DVD-burner or anything......http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?family=iMac
And despite what Apple tells you, you can drop 1GB of RAM in these old G3 DV models.

Well, there wouldn't be paradoxes is you think of time as a Mobius strip. This one friend of mine has some "issues" with time travel. But if you've read Vonnegut's "Slaughterhouse 5" (I think it was Slaughterhouse 5? it's been so long since I read it), there is a race of aliens in there that exist at all points in time from their birth to their death. And they witness these events every day of their life. It's like they're looking at a vast landscape. And humans are looking through only a tiny pinhole at the same scene. Anyway, I find it to be an interesting concept.

El-Hazard Online / Re: Dubbed versus Subtitled El-Hazard

The Japanese language and culture in anime is one of the things that originally impressed me so much about it. I guess it's that "foreign" feeling that makes it so unique and interesting.

One funny thing to do though, if you have the DVDs, is to run the dub track and the subtitles at the same time as a comparision. especially that one memorable scene "I refuse to let Makoto hang around with a dyke!" ^^;;;;
