Title: Songs that fit El Hazard Characters. LTMB!
Post by: theravenisdead on April 11, 2003, 03:47:36 am
Has anyone heard the song 'Bring me to life' by Evanescense? Its from the soundtrack for the movie Daredevil. I think its probably one of the best songs of heard that can be associated with Ifurita (the Original one, of course ^.^;) If you can, download it or try and watch the video of it on MTV/MuchMusic. The band (least this song in particular) essentially sounds like Linkin Park with a female vocal added to the fray. Here are the Lyrics.

PS: LTMB means Let the mayham begin ^_-.

Ifurita
Evanescense - 'Bring me to life'

How can you see into my eyes, like open doors?
Leading you down into my core
Where i've become so numb
Without a soul
My spirit's sleeping somewhere cold
Until you find it there in me, and lead it back home

(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I can't wake up)
Wake me up inside
(Save me)
Call my name, and save me from the dark
(Wake me up)
Bid my blood to run
(I can't wake up)
Before I come undone
(Save me)
Save me from the nothing I've become

Now that I know what I'm without,
You can't just leave me
Breathe into me and make me real
Bring me to life

(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I can't wake up)
Wake me up inside
(Save me)
Call my name, and save me from the dark
(Wake me up)
Bid my blood to run
(I can't wake up)
Before I come undone
(Save me)
Save me from the nothing I've become

Bring me to life
(I've been living a lie)
(There's nothing inside)
Bring me to life

Frozen inside without your touch, without you love
Darling, only you are the life among the dead

All this time I can't believe I couldn't see
Kept in the dark, but you were there in front of me
I've been sleeping a thousand years it seems
Got to open my eyes to everything
Without a thought, without a voice, without a soul
Don't let me die here
There must be something more
Bring me to life

(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I can't wake up)
Wake me up inside
(Save me)
Call my name, and save me from the dark
(Wake me up)
Bid my blood to run
(I can't wake up)
Before I come undone
(Save me)
Save me from the nothing I've become

Bring me to life
(I've been living a lie)
(There's nothing inside)
Bring me to life

Hope I didnt put any typos ^_^;

Even though I'm a huge music fan, I have trouble associating music with an anime, that isn't part of the original soundtrack (which is why I'm just not into AMVs ^^; ). I guess I'm just a purist that way. Although there is one VNV Nation song that would just go great with an Ifurita-themed El Hazard AMV, if I had the time/equipment/motivation to do it. ^^;

Dooky's Fatora icon 'love is love is love is love...' makes me think of Bjorks song "All is full of love"

All is full of love

you'll be given love
you'll be taken care of
you'll be given love
you have to trust it

maybe not from the sources
you've poured yours
maybe not from the directions
you are staring at

twist your head around
it's all around you
all is full of love
all around you

all is full of love
you just ain't receiving
all is full of love
your phone is off the hook
all is full of love
your doors are all shut
all is full of love

all is full of love

Because that song is so Freaky, and Fatora's definition of Love is to o_O;.

Well, the actual quote "love is love is love is love" comes from the Alternative World track Love Mania, as featured at the end of the legendary fanservice episode. It's sung by Fatora, Alielle, Nanami and Qawoor, and that particular quote just seemed appropriate for a Fatora-esque attitude.

When it comes to song titles that make me think of characters... for some reason Fatora always pops into my head when I think of the Luscious Jackson song "Lady Fingers"...

(runs) ^_~

Me? Make fun of Fatora? Surely not ^_~ Listen, I was defending Fatora back when virtually every El-Hazard fan in the West was convinced that she was a foul-tempered pervert with no redeeming features whatsoever. Now, of course, everyone likes Fatora, since she was practically the only thing that made Alternative World worth watching...

Umm... not really... I mean I know you think of her as Fatora and you as Alielle... but unless I'm missing something... she doesn't ACT like Fatora much... at least not on the board... (if she did she'd be trying to grab all the boobs she could!)

Outside of the net... who knows... maybe she is on the never ending quest for sweet sweet candy! Only she can answer that ^_~

Hmm.  An admin of a normal board would probably have to say something here.

But since this board is far from normal, I'll just post some custom anigifs.

Rosh: YEEEEEAAAAA!!!! BOOBS!!! *jumps on Lar*

Not really...

Actually, I'm anti-Fatora as well, but as far as Lar and I go, I think it's cute to be known as Fatora.  ;D And sometimes I can be known to be bitchy, whiny, and completly self-absorbed, like Fatora, but not enough to be counted.   :P Sorry to all you Fatora fans out there, but there really are better anime lesbians... like Utena!!!  ::)

Oh, and for a Fatora song, I reccomend Girls! by the Beastie Boys. Even though it's sung by a guy, I think it really fits her...   :P

PS I love Lar!  ;D

Wow, this is like three or four topics in one.

I still want to see a AMV of the Moody Blues' "I Know You're Out There Somewhere" for Makoto and OVA-Ifurita.  That, or "Your Wildest Dreams."

Someone once suggested Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" for Makoto and OVA-Ifurita.  I'd like to see that done too.

And, at the risk of being too obvious, how about "Windy" by the Association, for Afura.  When they repeat the line "smiling at everybody she sees," you could have clips of TV-Afura being snippy instead  ;)

Rob, do you take requests for animated gifs?

How about Diva, from the TV series' episode 18, where she says Jinnai's plan is excitingly bold, and she's standing there grinning, and her wings go all wavy with, uh, excitement.

Or TV-Ifurita, from episode 19, where she asks about retreating, and she's dodging spears.

There is actually an anime music video (AMV) that someone made using El Hazard OVA footage set to this very song.  I enjoyed watching it a great deal.  I had considered making a very similiar video so had some ideas of some things I would have done differently, however, it's a great video all the same.

You can find it using the search engine on the following web site:

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/home/home.php

The name of the video is called "Ifurita's Revelation" by a person who uses the handle "Zeon."

I thought I should warn that animemusicvideos is delaying all new registrants 2 weeks before you're allowed to download or its waived if you give them money.  Specifically the latter part is what it's all about.

To wit, I'm downloading a Princess Nine video to a song called "Adrenaline" right now.  :)

While I LOVE Dire Straits (in fact, I have Brothers in Arms and Love Over Gold on CD) I'm not sure whether or not enough anime footage exists to make a suitable video anyway.  The longing expressed in the song suggests Makoto's isolation, which although a good number of fictwriters have painted a graphic picture of to the depths of depravity to which he sank, there isn't much anime footage of same.  I do recall a very brief dream sequence in TAW in which Ifurita (yes, THE Ifurita) was calling to him in a dream, but that lasted only about ten seconds.  Ditto in the closing scenes of OVA2 where Kalia was trying to bait Makoto after she'd taken out the OTHER Ifurita.  Maybe some ambitious sort might draw up a few still sketches someone could flash in time to the song's tune?  Hmmm.

Wonder what Dooky's been up to?  ;)

In the meantime, for some reason I immediately thought of Cowboy Bebop upon reading your post.  Maybe I should do a search for Dire Straits or Mark Knopfler on the amv site.

Not that it matters, since I won't be authoring AMVs anytime soon-- but I can think of at least three possible ways to work around that.

One way would be to use OVA2 scenes of desert-Ifurita out of context.  There's some scenes of her with Makoto, and some scenes of her by herself.

Another way would be to expand the video concept, and try to show Nanami and Shayla pining for Makoto.  Makoto is even farther "away" from them, so to speak, than Ifurita is from Makoto.

The third (and easiest) way would be to fade the song out early  ;D

I remember DLing two DS AMVs, both of Tenchi Muyo!, to "Money For Nothing" (of course) and "Brothers In Arms" (the title track).  The BIA one was actually rather moving.

I was never really a big person on AMVs. Maybe because I'm such a big music fan, I'm always really critical about what music is used. I do really like it when people use music from the series. It's not done very often, and I wish people did it more! I have this really great Outlaw Star AMV that uses the second ending music. Also, the Saber Marionette J AMVs are really cool.

To each his own, I suppose.  :)

I do like the Outlaw Star opening theme, though.  I think I may well drop the dime for the box set before too long here.  I could talk about Aisha being the ultimate neko-chan, but that would be out of context here.  ;)

Heh heh. Aisha-sama is quite possibly the greatest and most powerful neko-shoujo in the multiverse! I remember how difficult it was to find shrines to her on the net, or even very many pics in general. Then, after the series appeared on Toonami, there were tons of shrines to her. ^^;;;

And isn't Yuko Miyamura's voice just perfect for her? Wai wai!
