Ya know, I have no problem with the Bugrom, they look pretty cool(though nothing close to the Zerg from StarCraft) but I think that they could have had a better name. I'm not complaining or anything but it just kind of sounds too corny, BUG---ROM.
-
I don't think in the history of my life I'd ever expect anyone to complain about such a thing. ^^;
What do you want? INSANE CONQUERING INSECT-HUMANOID SQUAD!
"The Ickies are attacking us again!"
"The what?"
"A race of giant, insect humanoids we refer to as the I.C.I.H.S. or 'ickies' for short."
"You pronounce 'I.C.I.H.S.' as 'ickies'?"
"It's not our fault it wasn't simple like ... I dunno ... 'bugrom'."
"That just kind of sounds too corny, BUG---ROM."
-
Dronealien makes a good point though, Rob. "Bugrom" does sound too corny.
Therego, from this day forwards, I decree that the Bugrom shall now be known as:
THE HOLY OMNIPOTENT MASTERS OF SUPERIORITY!
HAH HA! GENIUS!
Yes, with a cool new name like that, none shall dare stand between me and global domination!
BWAH HAH HAH HAHAHAHAHA!!!

One British reviewer of El-hazard pointed out that, if you say the word 'Bugrom' very quickly, it sounds like "Bugger 'em". As in, "subject them to..." well, you get my drift. Perhaps this explains why they're so feared in El-Hazard ^_~
This moment of poor taste was brought to you by the dooky.

*Tsks* What a perfect place for the XD smiley... *Nudges Rob* ;)
Yeah, I've always thought that "Bugrom" was a pretty lame name for a race of giant bugs. It probably sounds a lot cooler to the Japanese, since it's got that English word "bug" in it.
If we took the Japanese word for "bug" and modified it slightly, I'll bet that it'd sound a whole heckuva lot cooler to us English-speaking types, but sound pretty darned lame to Japanese speakers. Just one of the perils of watching animation created for another culture. :P

Sadly, that probably goes over the head of a lot of American fans.
Fortunately, I read Terry Pratchet. ;D
Yes, that WOULD inspire terror in the Roshtarian Alliance, wouldn't it?

A phonetic pronunciation of the Japanese katakana for 'bugrom' is baguromu. My first language is English, but I don't know if that's better or worse.
The Japanese word for 'bug' is mushi. Or, as Kauru sez, MUSHIII!! ;D
-
And she makes it sound like "machine". Bugs in the machine...
-
It may not be the best name. but it works, darnit ^^;
But since we're on the topic, we could call em the Tentomushi. After all, nothing beats a ladybug ;D
