Hmm... my holy logs state that you're using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows 95). While glowing effects and the like are Microsoft specific (you probably won't ever see them in any other browser) it's possible that for some reason they aren't rendering on IE 5.5 either because of Windows 95 or a screen resolution. Unless all of that information is completely defunt due to your software only reporting it is as such. ;)
Ah, that would explain it, then. I am using IE v5.5, but because my main computer is currently down, I'm using my old Windows 95 machine. Din't realize that some of the font options were dependent on the operating system.

I just build TRAINING SIMULATORS FOR WEAPONS OF DEATH!!!
and periodically throughout the day when I'm supposed to be working (between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm - yeah, shame on me ).
I shouldn't try to rationalize it, but I'd probably go nuts if I didn't have something to distract myself with from time to time while working... But it's still a bad habit. I'm doing it right now.
Rob, have you ever though of joining the armed forces?
They could send you to public tech schools via loans etc & in the service at all there're all sort of expertise to benefit from, I believe some of them are deeply computer related. Also, if you join the reserve ,it's very unlikely u'll be dropped in a war zone.
The only time I've actually thought of it was at the height of my desperation for work earlier this summer. Personally none of the president's current things are things I'm truly feeling its worth dying for so I'd prefer to remain uninvolved. (It's more I can't understand most of his goals and his basis for action more than just disagreeing it.) Anyway, not to get into a political arguement or anything, we'll just leave it that I'm not all that interested. Though I will admit most technologies are developed through the military and that's certainly interesting.
Currently a full-time junior at a H4RDK0R3!!!111one college prep school. If what I've heard about this year is true, expect my untimely death in about... three months.

Gas Station Attendant: Okay, kid, here it is... the men's room. Now I warned that boss of yours that we usually have commercial-grade robots do this sort of thing, cuz it's like highly toxic and dangerous in there, but well, that guy made us a great deal on you! We saved a bunch load of money hiring you instead of those robots. So, uh... have fun in there. And be careful. We had a bunch of truckers come in half an hour ago, and well... it ain't pretty in there. Good luck! *nervously unlocks the men's room door, then runs off*
Xel: .........
*door slowly opens.... revealing HORRORS BEYOND WHICH WORDS CAN TELL*

I graduated last December from Edinboro University with a certification and BS in Art Education.
Finding no job in Pennsylvania I took a job on a US military base in Guam teaching middle school art O_O;
I now make $31,990 a year plus a cost of living allowance for moving from PA to Guam.
Just so you know, $32,000 is about the MAX you can get as a first year teacher... and the Cost of Living Allowance pushes my salary closer to $40,000 a year (because Guam is expensive as hell).
They have a killer pension and health plan. They also ship all your crap here for you... (they shipped my car too).
AND they are sending me to Tokyo to attend an art teacher conference in 2 weeks... and the trip will be on THEIR bill!
WORKING FOR THE GOVERNMENT R0xX0r5!!!!!!
Umm cept for the whole leaving my family and friends and moving half way around the world thing...
Here's to hoping I get a position in Japan after my 2 year contract is up!
Now... if only I didn't have to work 60 hours a week planning lessons... >_<
Teacher?

Maybe the Showalter family could enlighten Homer and I whether there any regular anime showings or cons out your way?
There was only one ever not too long ago. And it sucked. :P But it DID have a pretty high attendance, so maybe it'll get some thoughts that there ought to be more. Possibly since it was a first time trial might help indicate why it wasn't stellar.
(I just wish it were in Pittsburgh and not an hour away in Greensburg -_- )
That's kind of moot to note for you now, isn't it? :P
I work in customer service for a grocery store. I get to handle people that are already upset about something and try my best to make them happy again but there are some people you just can't please no matter what you do. I usually just let it go in one ear and out the other. if not, then I'll just go in back and kick around some cardboard boxes. just to make some tension release. sometimes though I don't think I make enough to deal with some of the people I have dealt with before. one such horror story goes as this:
I had this one guy come in all the time and when he came up to the service desk counter this is our conversation:
me: yes, sir, how can I help you?
guy: when do you get off today?
me: not til much later, sir, so what can I do for you?
guy: you can come over to my house and clean
me: I'm sorry?
guy: "name of company" pays you to help the customer, so you should come to my house and clean
me: *narrows eyes* sir, I don't get paid to clean customer's houses
guy: yes you do
me: no, sir, I don't. now is there anything else I can do to help you?
guy: you just be ready later, when you get off, I'm coming to pick you up to take you home so you can get started
me: yeah, okay, have a nice day
that irritated me really badly because it seemed to me that he disrespected women so badly so he felt it his need to come harrass me daily on that kinda thing. and that's not the worst guy I get either.
I looked at her and said, "yeah, these are kinda funny looking chicken wings, I don't think you should get these." and I stuck them in my register cubby hole and stared at them point blank. they just smiled and left without another word. *shakes head* I'm not that stupid. ^^
