Ah.  So perhaps there's humor in cat wearing?

Nonsense. Wearing a cat is a very serious business. Don't you dare laugh. >:(

...

Was that a grin?! Why, if people start laughing at the very solemn and weighty concept of a man wearing a cat as living body armor, what will this world come to?! Pull yourself together, man!

Well, I meant specifically it's something more of an "in-joke" to them then to us who just see it as ... a guy wearing a cat.

You know, as much as I'd dearly love to see a translation of Afura's song Kashimashi Shugyou...I'm hesitant.

I've recently become a big fan of Yuki Kajiura's works...NOIR, .hack//SIGN, and others. And I really do enjoy listening to the songs at work, especially  "Aka to kuro" from the NOIR blanc dans NOIR album. It's really fast-paced and catchy.

And then one day I found the English translation to the lyrics. Enter "WTF?" phase. :)

But I've enjoyed Afura's song so much since I got it (and the album) at ACEN two years ago...so I'll be looking forward to seeing it when it gets posted.

Four months later  ^^;

kashimashi shugyou

Sorry everyone, I didn't do nearly as well with this song.  At a guess, it's maybe 50% or 60% accurate.  There's still a couple of TO_DO! markers where I finally gave up.  As if straightforward Japanese wasn't difficult enough-- Afura's song is sung in dialect, and it's quite metaphysical.  My brain hurts  ^^;

There may be a mistake in the original lyrics.  The original lyric clearly has hanshin, which means demi-god.  'Demon god' is kishin.  Either the lyricist got it wrong, or maybe the lyrics were written before the first OVA was completely written??

It also seems to break the fourth wall.  The last phrase seems to be something about the song being too long.

Fatora's song is next.
