Mysthe I know this is a bit off-topic, but I've been wanting to ask you this: In the French DVDs you have: - El-Hazard, le Monde Magnifique - which is El-Hazard OVA 1 and 2
- El-Hazard, le Monde Alternatif - which is Wanderers El-Hazard
- El-Hazard, les Mondes Alternatifs OAV 2 - which is El-Hazard The Alternative World
Is this correct? Because if it is, the publishers messed up big time with the titles: the Wanderers series and the Alternative World are two completely different stories....
Back on topic, I prefer the original japanese version, but here in Portugal we are used to watch EVERYTHING subtitled so my opinion may be biased....

Thank you !  I love Japanese language too and I've spent so many years studying it... I also like it a lot, specially because both the portuguese and japanese culture have some things in common *points at the wikipedia article in my previous post* Oh and Jinnai means jin = amenagement of an army, nai = inside, which I found funny.
Don't you mean quarters or barracks? It sure is funny: Jinnai: barracks inside

I'm really really sorry to write in such an old post, but I have just discovered El Hazard last month so... No problem and I'm glad you acknowledge the fact that this is indeed an old post. Welcome to the forums!  I am currently studying classic Japanese and I cannot let someone tells that "aligato" comes from Portuguese. It was already attested during the Heian period (8th to 10th century) where no Portuguese never put a foot on any Japanese island. Arigato originating from Portuguese is an urban legend. Oh and "pan" comes from the French word "pain". Hum absolutely out of question. I really thought it came from pão... Oh wellhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_words_of_Portuguese_origin I knew I saw it somewhere... And I was really surprised too to see the name of the Demon god spelled "Ifurita", whereas it should be "Ifrita" or "Efreeta" if you want. Japanese isn't a language where you can put 2 consonants without a vowel between them (except for the n). So when Japaneses imports foreign words that do so (in this case, the word "ifrit"), they use the vowel "u", which is deaf. In this way, the vowel isn't pronounced and you can have artificially 2 consonants put together. Yep, see my post above. The same thing happens with Afura (Afra), which is a name used here in Portugal, at least. A lot of Japan girls have a "mi" (beauty) or a "ko" (princess) in their names, but yes, maybe it was made for. And I would hardly not believe that "Makoto" (truth) is simply for the sound, it is not a so common name. Well.... the character is pure hearted, so "truth" does fit him. However, I usually see it as a girl's name.... but in Japan there are many names that are "unisex". Again sorry sorry really sorry for writing in such an old post. I had discovered El Hazard during that month and felt in love, and your site is really great, thank you. A bump is always welcomed when you have something important to say (which I believe is the case)!

Cool!! It's always nice too see El-Hazard promoting stuff. How times change: I still remember when I had to wait for hours to download an AMV from a site... YouTube is much better.

 That was unexpected... At least they released all 3 DVDs (i.e. OVA 1 and 2)... Let's hope that El-Hazard isn't forgotten for good because of this...

Oh ok. Just wanted to help didnt see it posted in here. ^^ Puppety Jinnai is cute lol. Yep, I do think that the Shake La La site had the best FanArt on El-Hazard ever made (they almost look like Hanken cels ). BTW, I recently discovered that the artist's name is Oya Megumi ( and I also made a mirror site to show how it looked like back in 2001-2003).

Hi and welcome to the forums. The PC game's storyline is built taking into consideration what you choose on the menus, so the best thing is to start over! (I's very hard to help out as none of us can predict what were the options you made during your gameplay.) Don't give up!

Well, all 3 DVD are now for sale!
However I'd like to see if the OVA2 cover surprises me, like the one found by Nepotism Chainsaw (there aren't many Hanken Cels from OVA2 around).
The cover seems... to have a pretty standard design.... and NO new Hanken Cels!!

After owning the OVAs on VHS for god knows how long, I finally bought the first OVA discs this week.
As far as I can tell, it has the same easter eggs as those reported in the original box set release. Maybe they are the same discs? So even the menus are the same? Do you have all 3 disks already? If you have the OVA2 dvd, could you post the cover?  Oh and BTW, I'm Shayla's Raven. Forgot my old password (Sorry Rob. eheh) [OFF TOPIC] Ah...! Yes, I remember you: "Forum deletion magnet!!" A small update. Animenation is selling the OVA 2 DVD, but they don't have a pic of it nor many details: - Spoken Languages: English, Japanese

Funny enough, if you go to their El-Hazard DVDs page, they are not selling the OVA1 vol. 1, i.e. they have only the OVA1 vol. 2 and OVA2 DVDs (and Geneon hasn't announced the OVA2 DVD yet). Forget what I said above. On the OVA 2 DVD Page says: Currently available for pre-order.
Release Date: September 25, 2007 At least we now know a release date.

i really wish something in the el-hazard scene would happen... but it seems like nothing ever will, which is depressing. Yep, the rumours about an OVA3 were just that... rumours. I feel tempted to think that AIC had the idea of doing it, but dumped it...
