El-Hazard Online / Hopping on the Fanfic Bandwagon
« on: August 14, 2003, 03:21:47 am »
Well, as everyone seems to be writing their own fanfiction, I decided it was my turn to stretch my literary muscles.

Read my story or DIE!

El-Hazard: Ultimate Weapons Part 1

I also posted this up on Fanfiction.net, but the formatting sucked. I shall blame this incident on Xel, as she has been promoted to my Official Scapegoat.

As there are some fans of television's longest-running science fiction show here, I just thought I'd share something neat that I managed to find on the net.

Behold! Tom Baker prank calls!

It's a collection of skits done by a radio show called Dead Ringers in the UK. In this collection, a very excellent Fourth Doctor impersonator makes a variety of prank calls. He phones up a hotel for to make a reservation, QVC to make an order, Directory Assistance for the date, the actor who played the 7th Doctor, and even Tom Baker himself! This thing was pretty hillarious.

Sadly, most of the files are dead. But there are still a few that work.

El-Hazard Online / Rune Venus vs. Rune Venus
« on: August 03, 2003, 03:53:25 am »
In the spirit of comparing the different characters in the OAV and TV series, let's talk about everyone's favorite Roshtarian Princess. (Regardless of what you folks may say, I'll NEVER believe Fatora is likeable)

Which Rune Venus did you prefer? Would it be the regal, Galus-effinced, balcony-sitting, farmer-boyfriend-disappearing, has-really-bad-luck-with-men princess of the OAVs, or the regal, cleavage-showing, Makoto-loving, antler-wearing, puppet freak princess of the TV series?

As far as I'm concerned, both these hos can jump off a cliff. It'll make the conquest of El-Hazard much quicker! But some guys seem to like her (freaks), so go ahead and decide.

El-Hazard Online / Really Important Question [Doujinshi come and get]
« on: August 03, 2003, 01:49:34 am »
Sooooooo, Robby boy, buddy, pal...

When are you gonna share that doujinshi you were talking about on the update page? I'm sure our resident Shayla and Afura fans are quite curious... *evil grin*

Rob: Might as well bring the crowd...

El-Hazard Online / Freakiest El-Hazard Pairing
« on: July 29, 2003, 03:31:34 am »
Here's a question for all the El-Hazard fanfic readers...

Which character pairing in a fanfic freaked you out the most? This question doesn't apply to cross-overs, by the way.

El-Hazard Online / Roshtarian Military Weaponry
« on: July 28, 2003, 01:48:34 am »
Whenever I read El Hazard fanfics, they always portray the Roshtarians as having guns. Yet when I watched the OAV and tv series, the humans of El Hazard never used them. The only weapons I've seen the Roshtarian army ever use were those big lightning shooting canon things, the electrified bayonettes that Makoto used to fight Galus, the wooden staves that the Palace Guard carries around, some swords and knives, and in the tv series, bows and arrows. All of these weapons, one should note, were highly ineffective against the Bugrom.
Hmm... wonder what the Roshtarian military would pay for a crate of AK-47's?

So, did I miss something or did the fanfiction authors just make a mistake?

El-Hazard Online / Jinnai vs. Jinnai
« on: July 26, 2003, 02:20:31 am »
Which Jinnai persona did you prefer? The psychotic, deranged personality of the OAV series, or the psychotic, deranged personality of the TV series?

All kidding aside, there were distinct differences between the two. While the OAV Jinnai was a genius of military strategy, TV Jinnai was a genius in... uh... comic book villiany. OAV Jinnai's tactics on the battlefield allowed the Bugrom to conquer several Alliance kingdoms, while TV Jinnai... uh... stole vegetables and dug some tunnels.

Okay, so OAV Jinnai was a bit more successful than his TV counterpart, so what? TV Jinnai had many things going for him as well.

TV Jinnai was a lot less bloodthirsty than his OAV counterpart. TV J seemed to want only recognition of his superiority in the eyes of everyone else, whilst OAV J truly wanted territorial conquest. TV J often gave Roshtaria warning before attacking, while OAV J was mercilless in his sending of OAV Ifurita and his army to attack.

Whilst things went well in the beginning for OAV J, by the OAV's end he pretty much lost. His army was wiped out, his Demon God lost to him; by the end of Alt World, he was even forced to mate with Diva. Ugh.

TV J, even though he had a rocky start, had a better ending. His loyal army was still around, HIS Ifurita was still loyal to him (though tactically this fact isn't very good), and his strategic planning skills seems to have gotten better.

Hmm, this is a very tough decision to make. I guess it merely falls under one's personal tastes. So, which Jinnai did you prefer?

El-Hazard Online / Ifurita vs. Ifurita

All right, soon-to-be conquered! Who would win the battle for the title of the Ultimate Dooms Day Weapon? Will it be the demonic blue-haired hussy who betrayed me in the OAVs, or my loyal, caring, and devestatingly powerful minion from the TV series? You, the viewer, decide! And this time, I won't even charge you admission. Isn't that nice of me? Bwa hah hahah hahahah hahahahaha!

El-Hazard Online / Favorite Makoto Moment
« on: July 24, 2003, 12:18:44 pm »
What was the best moment Makoto ever had in any of the series? Sure there were a ton of them, like dressing up as a girl (freak) or the time he kept drowning at the end of every Wanderers episode. But what was Makoto's greatest moment, the one that truly marked him as the simpering douchebag that he is?

For me, it was that time in Wanderers after he fought Jinnai in a swordfight. He was about to save Rune, but then her kite broke away and she flew off. Makoto was so dumb that he fell off the Bugrom hive's roof, plunking down fifty feet like a sack of sorry potatos and began rolling down the side. I watched that scene every day for a week. Twice.

So, what was your favorite Makoto moment?

El-Hazard Online / Welcome me now!
« on: July 22, 2003, 08:30:45 pm »
Hello there. The more aware of you may have noticed me posting around here lately. Silly me though, I forgot to introduce myself.

I am the Lord God Jinnai, known in some circles as Master, and yet in others as Phillipe. You can call me the former, but not the latter, cause the latter makes me angry as it is an insult to the former being what I care to be called.

Anyway, you may now post your adulations of me, for I am sure we shall be very good friends. I'm a nice guy. Really.

El-Hazard Online / Makoto Vs. Jinnai
« on: July 21, 2003, 05:51:34 pm »
In a serious, fair fight, who would win? Makoto or Jinnai?

I believe that if Jinnai actually put aside his stupid plots and left his Bugrom at home, he'd kick Mizuhara's wimpy ass but good. Just take a look at the beginning of the OAV, when Makoto ran away from him. Or in the tv series, when they had that sword fight. Jinnai was doing pretty good, blocking all of Makoto's girly swings, until of course the end when he thought his idiotically constructed plan backfired.
