That's great dooky, but you left out one very important thing. With all that nudity was a complete and utter lack of nipples!!!

All that aside, episode 13 is basically just fan service. Really, really great fan service. Bless you AIC, god bless you.

I've noticed in more than one thread, that you guys have this "El Hazard is Earth" theory and it's the first time I've ever heard of such. Although it is an interesting theory. And seeing as how, from a physics standpoint, it should be easier to travel through time than space. Then it's entirely possible!

Space travel is theoretically possible, although very impractical. Dimensional warping is a way of getting around this, although again impractical. But, if you think of time as being linear like a ruler and  everything and everyone that ever existed being marked on it as such, isn't it possible to slide up and down this given ruler if you had the power to do such? It would make all the comings and goings between "Earth" and "El Hazard" make more sense (if you even compelled to break it down as such, it is just fantasy after all ^^; ).

El-Hazard Online / Re: Dubbed versus Subtitled El-Hazard
« on: March 02, 2003, 05:04:23 pm »
I prefer subs 100% over dubs. But I've seen all of the El Hazard anime dubbed at one point or another. While yes, the dub is alot better than most (especially for Pioneer USA -_-; ) I still prefer the subtitled version. And, while I'd like to avoid resurrecting the overdone dub vs sub argument, I'd like to say that the reason I prefer subs is that I find anime much more interesting when viewed in it's original language. I feel this way about all foreign film, as a matter of fact. And plus, I just find Japanese so interesting in general! And while I'm not fluent by any means, years of watching subtitled anime has given me at least a minimal understanding of Japanese language! ^_^

There have been rumors circulating of a Capcom vs. AIC fighting game in the works for quite some time. And seeing as how Capcom already has licenses with SNK and Marvel, and AIC is one of the most popular and respected anime studios in Japan, it's easy to see it as a reality. And I hope it becomes one, some day. I want to play as Ifurita in a fighting game!

El-Hazard Online / Re: El-Hazard OAV3! [Rob: keep in one thread, okay
« on: March 02, 2003, 04:44:09 pm »
AIC originally had plans for a third El Hazard OVA. This would be the one that would show how Makoto got back to Earth and resolve everything else as well. It included a mad scientist from Ancient El Hazard who was ressurected/reincarnated and caused quite a stir in the process. It never flew though, due to budget problems. And though alot of people I've talked to seem to think that the franchise is dead, I do not think that is the case at all. If you look at AIC's history, they almost always do sequels or remakes of their most popular titles. Sometimes, these come years after the originals. Let's look at some of the recent reincarnations AIC has done of long gone anime:

Tenchi Muyo = OVA3 & GXP
Dangaioh = G-Dangaioh (who ever thought we'd see another Dangaioh?)
Sol Bianca = Sol Bianca: The Legacy
ArmitageIII = Dual Matrix
Bubblegum Crisis = BGC Tokyo 2040
Vampire Princes Miyu OVA = Vampire Princes Miyu TV
Oh My Goddess = movie

...there are others as well.

Very interesting Rob! You've hit all the right points. The Makoto who comes back to earth to get Ifurita at the end of OVA 1 is obviously a bit older and mature. Probably at least mid-20s. Which means that several years pass before he is able to cross dimensions to Earth. During that time, he certainly has opportunites to have relationships with Qawoor or whoever else. But I doubt it highly, since he's so in love with Ifurita.

As far as Qawoor being somehow related to Ifurita.... well Qawoor's tribe is an ancient and mysterious people. Meaning that they're probably direct descendents of the ancient people of El Hazard. So it's possible that, in the very least, Ifurita's body style, appearence, etc... is based directly on these people (if you buy into the fact that Ifurita is 100% machine  -___-; ). Most likely, Ifurita's default techniques were gleaned directly from these people. Which is why Qawoor's powers are so similar.

So why is she so into Makoto? Well, we all know he's a chick magnet! Look at all the girl's that are in love with him? It should come as no suprise that Qawoor falls for him as well. So why does Makoto kinda seem to like Qawoor? Maybe she reminds him a little of Ifurita.  But remember also, Makoto is just a nice guy in general and has the big brother persona going on.

I first saw it back when it came out on VHS. And I have to say that it's probably my least favorite EH anime. And why? No Ifurita! Hey, Ifurita is my favorite chara and I love her more than words can describe. So when they show her no less than three times during the opening credits but not at all during the series, I just have to go like this -___________-;

The series itself is OK, but it does have some problems. Most notably, the zillion sub-plots they introduce but never resolve. Other than that, it was OK. Kind of interesting, how they take the priestess' costume and items from both the OVA and Wanderers and kind of combine things. Shayla Shayla's ripcord thingy is still cooler though.  ;D

El-Hazard Online / Re: I got another ... Fujisawa's Daughter?
« on: March 02, 2003, 04:05:06 pm »
Interesting topic! People often speculate about those water colors. But, I've always felt that they're simply speculative, concept art. Not an actual epilogue or anything like that.

Now, as far the first pic Rob posted, it's Miz plain and simple. Just look at her face! She has the same marks on her face and the same hairstyle. Albeit, with a knit cap pulled over it. So why is she smaller and shorter? Well, they are climbing a mountain after all! Miz is obviously standing lower down on a slope, approaching where Fujisawa is standing. I mean, the perspective is there and everything!

I am no student of the Koran, but supposedly "Ifreet" and "Diva" are the names of demons!

Not sure of what the origins of "Diva" are (thought it was Greek?) but "Ifreet" (or Ifurita in Hiragana) is a demon from The Thousand and One Nights.

I'd heard convincing arguments for Alternative World being both the past and the future of El Hazard. Both the under-developed Bugrom and the very different architecture, political and social climate point to it being at some point in ancient El Hazard history.

However, it could also be the future of El Hazard. It's perfectly resonable to assume that the Bugrom could be all but wiped out at some point, and the remains of the race or some branch species would develop and evolve in their place. It's happened with many species here on earth! And, let's say the people of El Hazard eventually shrug off the inherited technology of their ancestors in favor of developing their own industries? That would explain why the almost-utopian atmosphere of "present day" El Hazard eventually fell into a totalitarian state.

And.......why is the Eye of God in pieces? You'll remember from Ifurita's flashbacks that the Eye of God was assembled in orbit.

Or is this a Sonic fandom reflex for typing "EHZ" as an acronym for "Emerald Hill Zone"? Please explain, matie.

LOL!

Seriously, nice board you have set up here Rob. The YaBB code is great. Brings back some memories of some great boards (some of which aren't even around anymore). And it is a nice to have an actual El Hazard board to hang out at. I used to hang out at the El Hazard section at the AIC forums all the time, until it really started going down hill..... :(

I noticed there's alot of Sonic fans here as well. Do we have some Sega clique going on? ;D
