14,400 screenshots featuring every conceivable moment of El-Hazard and I was quickly defeated by Spanner.  ;p

*Nonchalantly buffs his fingers on his shirt* Well, you know how it goes...  ;D

BTW Aaron, did you ever get that file I sent?  I'm not sure if your mail service thingie just hates it when i try to send files, or if it just randomly decides to hate me...

My apologies... I've been busy lately, and my inbox has paid the price. I did get your document, though, and I'll read it when I have time! I have a few other e-mails I need to respond to, as well...

El-Hazard Online RPG / Re: EHOL RPG???

Hmm... The "different time period" idea is an interesting one. However, rather than placing the game before the OAVs, I'd suggest placing it a few generations AFTER. That way, we can do things like have player characters that are descendants of the original characters, for instance. That way, someone who wants to play Shayla can actually play Shayla Jr. Jr., and thus have a Shayla-like character whom no one can complain about if she doesn't act just like her. And people will be less likely to fight over control of the original characters, 'cause they'll all be fogies. ^_^

Of course, Ifurita would probably still be just as powerful in two generations as she is in the present. If she's a problem, we can just say that she and Makoto decided to stay on Earth, or something. We never did get to see what happened to them after they were reunited, after all.

Yup, just about everything on my site was created by me. I captured the screenshots, wrote the scripts and the html. Pretty much the only things that I took from others are the big artbook scans, like the cast images on the main and interviews page, and the picture of the two Ifuritas standing side-by-side.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. ^_^V Someday, I'll even get off my duff and FINISH it.  :P I have big plans for the Ifurita and Ifurita interview, but I'm saving that one for last.

El-Hazard Online / Re: Two New Box Sets for El hazard fanss

Right Stuff often seems to have some "extra" empty boxes on hand for sale. At least, they did with Evangelion.

'Tis odd though. First they were releasing individual tapes/DVDs, then releasing boxsets. Then they start releasing the first volume with the series box. Now they're releasing individual discs, then super discounted sets. That's what they did with Kurogane Communication.
-.-

*Sighs* It makes sense, though... The avid fans pick up the series right away, right? Afterwards, the company starts to make modifications, adding on bells and whistles, and lowering the price, to try to make the product look more attractive to the ones that originally passed it up. They don't need to worry about making new stuff for the avid fan - they already HAVE their money.

Would it kill them, though, to have the boxes alone for sale, for the devoted fan who misses out on the good stuff because he or she was being a good, loyal customer?  >:( It doesn't seem like a very good business practice to consistantly infuriate the ones who are willing to buy the anime as soon as it comes out, no matter the price.

As for Right Stuf, unfortunately, I wouldn't count on them having the boxes for sale. When they sell individual boxes, they are usually boxes that have been available individually from the start, or else were something added intended for the original disks, but long after the original discs were released (that is, it's an add-on, not a new product). Both the Neon Genesis Evangelion boxes and the Escaflowne boxes were that way. I always hate to be a pessimist, but I wouldn't get my hopes up, if I were you.

I'd like these boxes, so I'm gonna watch e-bay for a while after the sets come out, and see if there's anyone that picked up the box sets and decided they didn't actually want the box. Aside from forking over the dough to buy the series a second time, that'll probably be the best way to get a box.

El-Hazard Online RPG / Re: EHOL RPG???

Hey, I might be interested in participating in this. And I bring with me to the table a vast storehouse of online RPG experience. ^_^ I've seen a lot of what can make or break an RPG like this.

I've actually been looking to join another El-Hazard RPG since the one I used to be on has mostly ground to a halt. The one Mark Engles pointed out looked interesting, but it had entirely too many Furries for my comfort (I've nothing against Furries, really, but I prefer El-Hazard RPGs to stick with the three major races presented in the series: Humans, Bugrom, and Shadow Tribe. It's just less chaotic that way). I may still ask to join that, but if we can come up with something fun here, perhaps that'll be enough for me.

I think the idea of rendering all canon characters (Makoto, Ifurita, the Priestesses, etc.) as non-player characters is an interesting one; that way, everyone can call upon the characters from the show as-needed, without having to organize things with the character's player. I'm just as happy to go with a game playing as characters from the series, though.

There are a number of screenshots of Alielle on my website (as well as ones of Shayla-Shayla). However, they are all quite small - only 160x120 pixels. Still, you're welcome to use them if you like. ^_^V

On a wholly unrelated note, I am overjoyed to learn that Minnesota is receiving its very own con! Not until sometime 2004, sure, but still! If you live in the area, come on down...  ;D

Really? I live in Minnesota! Near the Twin Cities. Is there a website or anything like that I can visit to learn more?

On the subject of Jinnai/Diva, I think they do leave it open to a lot of interpretation. I, for one, though, don't really think that Jinnai's ready for romance. As Rob pointed out, love requires give and take - and Jinnai's not really interested in anything but taking at the moment. I also rather get the impression that he's rather incredibly emotionally immature. And not just in matters of love.

I think that Diva might be amenable to the idea, though. She sure seemed to get pretty gung-ho over the "lay some eggs" idea when Jinnai suggested it. ^_^

El-Hazard Online / Re: Ok...so who's actually here?

Hello! I just joined this group, by the recommendation of Mark Engels. ^_^ Since there seems to be a sort of introduce-yourself thread going on, that seems like a fine way to... erm... introduce myself!

Name: Aaron Ziegler

Age: 27

Sex: Male

Location: Maple Grove, Minnesota

Personality: INTJ - I tend to be rather shy and reclusive in real life, but I think you'll find I'm a bit more outgoing online. ^_^;; At times I sometimes also am a bit lacking in tact. I apologize in advance for that.

Hobbies and Interests: Video Games, Anime, and Sci-Fi/Fantasy. I like to read and to write, and have written several works of fan-fiction.

Favorite Non-Anime movies: Tron, Labyrinth, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and others.

Anime you've seen: Erg. Tons more than I'm willing to take the time to write right now... Almost all of the titles typically considered popular among anime fandom, I've seen (well, all the titles that have been released commercially in the US - I never really got into fansubs, and can count the number I've seen on the fingers of one hand). Add to that a few minor or lesser-known pieces, like Birdy the Mighty and Those Who Hunt Elves and many others.

Religion: None of the above. And that includes Atheism. I just don't have the faith it takes to be an Athiest. :P

Misc: I became an anime fan not long after being introduced to the Internet, an event that occured early in my college life. Since then, I have participated in many aspects of anime fandom, including a sporadic but still ongoing career as a writer of fanficiton. (My writings can be found at http://www.visi.com/~spanner/fanfics/fanfics.htm ).

Fairly early on, I selected El-Hazard to be my Official Favorite Anime, not so much because I consider it to be the best anime I've ever seen (though it IS darned good), but because I decided I needed an anime to call my official favorite. Since then, I've invested a lot of time and attention into the show, and have even produced a (as yet unfinished) website dedicated to it. (This website can be found at http://www.visi.com/~spanner/ElHazard/EHMain.htm ).

My favorite El-Hazard series is the original OAV. Oddly, though, my favorite El-Hazard character is the Wanderers version of Ifurita, whom I adore to death. She's just so cute and funny! ^_^

Anyway, I'm happy to be here!
