Azumanga Daioh and "gaijin yonkoma" fans may enjoy this LJ entry.  (One yonkoma has El-Hazard content.)

3  General / Non-El-Hazard Topical Discussions / Hubba Hubba Zoot Zoot on: July 17, 2005, 10:17:18 PM
These have been around for awhile, but they're new to me, and I don't remember them mentioned here before now.

"Mostly Metal Jacket" is a Flash animutation set to "Hubba Hubba Zoot Zoot."  No El-Hazard content, but definitely worth watching.

And if you don't have a copy of the song itself, Sonic Warfare has a couple versions of it.  There's a lot of essential listening on this page, including "Yatta!," "Dragostea Din Tei" and "Opblaaskrokodil."

First pictures from my new digital camera.  (Two pictures have El-Hazard content.)
5  General / El-Hazard Online / for LiveJournal users on: October 12, 2004, 08:39:39 PM
We don't really need another El-Hazard community... but I noticed that the LiveJournal name el_hazard hadn't been used yet, and I decided to claim it myself.

El-Hazard: The Magnificent LiveJournal Community

And while I'm at it, anyone up for a LiveJournal roll-call?
6  General / El-Hazard Online / MrWhat's fan works on: October 03, 2004, 12:33:47 AM
I haven't done any fan-fiction plugs for a long, long time, and the board is relatively quiet, so here ya go.

Forgotten Realm - A new drabble that I posted to LiveJournal, this evening.  I'm just doing my part to spread a new Intarweb catch-phrase that arose from the first 2004 US Presidential debate.

And a couple of early previews:

Hana Ni Arashi, part 14 - In case anyone still cares about this beast.  Hopefully, parts 15 and 16 will beta in a couple of weeks, and part 17, maybe by the end of the month?

What Am I Doin' Hangin' Round? - 2100 word spam-fic.  Just finished it a few minutes ago.  A middling effort, I think.  The ending kinda fell flat for me.

I'm also writing for the anime100 weekly drabble-challenge community.  There's a couple of "new" un-re-published El-Hazard drabbles there.  Don't expect too much-- I've done some of my worst work there.  (Maybe that's why I've gotten zero feedback since May...)
7  General / El-Hazard Online / Return Of The Son Of The EH Round Robin on: March 21, 2004, 12:37:34 AM
OOC:  Continued from this topic.  Even if everyone else has had enough, I might try to have some more fun on my own.

Londs turned to address the Princess Rune Venus and the Queen Deva.  He did his best to ignore Dr. Schtalubaugh, who was busy putting a tall stack of folded laundry into an oddly-placed closet in the Floristica palace throne room.

"Allow me to formally offer my congratulations to you both," Londs said to Rune and Deva.  "Now that the leaders of the two great powers of El-Hazard have made their peace, we can finally look forward to a New Golden Age of prosperity, happiness and enlightenment--"

Just then, goth-Ifurita-3 mooned into the room.  The light in the room seemed to dim in her presence.  "Alas!" she cried.  "There is no light; there is but darkness.  There is no warmth; there is but coldness.  There is no love; there is but a heart-numbing soul-crushing eternity of loneliness and despair.  And an immortal demon god such as I shall never taste sweet sweet death.  Truly, I am the Sad Clown of Life."

"Oh dear," a frowning Deva said to herself.  "Dr. Semimad's therapy would not seem to be going well."

Schtalubaugh suddenly spun away from the closet.  "Semimad!?  I beg your pardon, Milady Deva, but has that poor girl been placed in the care of that charlatan Semimad?  My junior classmate at Scientific Advisor School, and my life-long rival and greatest enemy?  We should be grateful that the poor dear hasn't cast herself into the Dimensional Void between worlds!"

"What would you have us do, good Doctor?" asked Rune.

"For a lost soul such as her, there is but one remedy," Schtalubaugh said solemnly.  "She must be made to forget her sorrow.  The music of her laughter must be brought forth, once again.  And the best way to do that is--"

The small and aged man suddenly jumped at Ifurita-3 with surprising agility.  He gently but firmly glomped her, brought her down to the floor, and began to tickle her mercilessly, but in a happy fun ghost-of-Yuba-and-Ishiel kind of way.

"YEEEK!!" said Ifurita-3.  "Hee hee!!  Hee hee!!  Hee hee!!"

Londs, Rune and Deva sweat-dropped.

And then, Ishiel Soel, Rogue Priestess of Earth, etc., etc., casually strolled into the room.  She walked past Schtalubaugh and Ifurita-3, completely ignoring them, and came to stand before Rune, Deva and Londs.  "Greetings, Milady Rune.  Greetings, Milady Deva.  How's it goin', Royal Ugly Dude?"

Londs scowled.  "Well, well.  If it isn't the back-stabbing little background character.  State your business, woman, before I have you returned to the Floristica dungeons for the rest of your natural life."

A grinning Ishiel held up a hand in protest.  "Whoah, whoah!  Hold on there, Mr. Pants!  I came to volunteer some crucial intelligence, hopefully in exchange for a large sum of money and/or consignment of sakč."

Londs raised an eyebrow.  "Did you just call me Mr. Pants?"

Rune was already becoming annoyed with Londs, the retainer whom she herself had fired recently.  "What news have you, Priestess?" she asked.

Ishiel comically rolled her eyes up, held her hands behind her back, and rocked on her feet.  "Ohhhh, just that the Mice Wearing Hats and the Giant Sewer Rats, having lost the election, will be planning a long and terrible siege of Floristica from underground.  Beginning sometime the day after tomorrow, I should think."

"Oh, nut bunnies," said Rune, Londs and Deva, in unison.

An uncomfortable silence fell over the room, broken only by Ifurita-3's childish giggling and gasping for breath.

"By the way," Rune finally asked, "where is your, um, friend Afura?"

Ishiel smiled a deeply disturbing smile.  "Oh, poor little Afura.  Hee hee.  I decided to have some more fun at her expense-- er, I mean, punish her again.  I mean, it's almost as if she enjoys it...  Anyway, you remember that tub of mud?  Well, we both, uh, borrowed it for awhile--"

Deva cut in.  "May I say, Lady Ishiel, that the mud I've repeatedly seen you wearing, on babump.com, has done wonders for your skin.  It's so clear and smooth."

"Erm, thank you, Milady.  Anyway, before Afura could clean up, I used my Great Lamp of Earth to harmlessly draw all the moisture out of the mud on her, and to crystallize the mud's molecular structure, making it as hard as stone."

Ifurina and her new scary-door-opening friend Kalia were strolling through the reconstructed parts of the Floristica gardens, enjoying their ice cream and looking at all the pretty flowers.

They paused in front of a life-sized stone statue.  "Oh, look!" said Ifurina.  "What a lovely sculpture of Afura Mann!"

"And it's so life-like," the new sweet and innocent Kalia said.  "It's almost as if it's looking back at us, isn't it."

"*mmmph*" the statue said.

"Did you just say something?" Kalia asked.

"Um, no," Ifurina said.

"*mmmph*" the statue said again.

Ifurina and Kalia both looked to Staff-chan.  "It wasn't me," it said.

"*MMMPH*!!" the statue said impatiently.

Ifurina and Kalia gulped in unison, glanced at each other, looked back at the statue, and suddenly ran away screaming.

Afura sighed sadly to herself.  "*mmmmmmmmph*"
8  General / Non-El-Hazard Topical Discussions / How cold is it? on: January 30, 2004, 10:00:02 PM
It was five degrees below zero Fahrenheit here, last night.  And there isn't much relief in the weather forecast.

So, how cold it it?  It's so cold that...

When Makoto and Fujisawa were in the forest, the first "person" that came along was a dolphin-polar-bear.

At the meeting of the Alliance leaders, everyone was complaining that they had to walk twenty miles in the snow to get there.

Makoto and Alielle thought Fujisawa wandered into the Crystal Tunnels again-- but they actually found him covered in ice.

OVA Rune Venus can't stand outside, on her balcony, to gaze sadly into the distance, for more than a minute at a time.

Makoto has been using Ura as an electric blanket.

Everyone is feeling up Shayla, just to keep their hands warm.

Afura is getting sick and tired of calculating the wind chill.

The priestesses went ice-skating at Arliman.

Miz kissed her OVA Lamp of Water, and her lips froze to her ring.

When Kiriya imitated a human form, her face was still blue from the cold.

Ifurita needed a jump-start.

Nanami had a walk-in freezer put in, at her restaurant, so that she would have a place to get warm.

Kalia didn't melt.

Arjah had to step out of Makoto's dimensional transporter for a moment to scrape frost off its glass.

Fatora and Alielle put some clothes on.

According to my profile, I registered with EHOL on 12 January 2003.

One year and 300+ messages later, I'm still here.  That's a real accomplishment for me.  As I've mentioned before, I've gotten myself kicked off half a dozen various mailing lists, with my gift for writing stupid things.

Anywho, EHOL was one of the better things that came along in a personally lousy year.  I really enjoy watching everyone keep interest alive in an obscure yet wonderful anime franchise.

Thanks to Bob and Saucer for running an informal and friendly message board, and for overlooking my occasional unintentionally rude messages.

Thanks to the Round Robin writers for continuing what has to be one of the most successful round robins ever, and for letting me cut loose with some, uh, "experimental" writing  ^^;

And thanks to everyone in general for putting up with a creepy computer nerd in his mid-30s who is way, way too obsessed with El-Hazard.

The next year should bring more working Japanese translations and at least a little more fan fiction.  With luck, and a little more free time, maybe I can put together some other new EH goodies too  ;D
10  General / El-Hazard Online / MrWhat's Japanese translations on: August 28, 2003, 09:21:15 PM
Here's my first attempt at Jinnai's song.  Like I've said many times before, I'm still a beginner, so don't expect too much  ^^;

The Conqueror Jinnai Katsuhiko

Afura's song is next.  Afura sings/speaks in a dialect, so I'm not doing as well with her lyrics.  But, it should be better than nothing, I hope.

Which song should I try after that?  I know a few of these songs have been translated, or at least attempted-- exactly which ones are still completely untranslated?

I'm also starting a Comic Anthology script.  I think I'll try to make a first pass thru the CA before I tackle the doujinshi.  The Roman Album and the Alt World Memories books are still too difficult for me, I think.

Well, I've got minor writer's block.  More like writer's speed-bump-- I just haven't gotten around to taking some time out to do some brain-storming.  :P

So I updated this list instead.  It's complete now.

148 stories.  That's pretty much everything I could find, via FF.net, Usenet and Google.  Did I miss any?

There are two missing stories-- "The Continuance" (missing from IMSA) and  "Nightmares End, Dreams Beginning" (NC-17 fic dropped from FF.net).  Are these publicly posted anywhere else?
