Title: How to get the original OAV music without the voices?
Post by: Mizfan on February 22, 2010, 12:43:04 pm
Yo!

I've gotten hold of the soundtracks but all the music from the first OAV includes voice overs that drown out most of the music. Does anyone know of any soundtracks (legit or even dvd rips) with the music on its own?

If you are referring to the Karaoke versions of the OVA musics, they are available at the 6CD Boxset (http://www.el-hazardonline.net/cgi-bin/eholpage.cgi?series=El-Hazard;menu=cdmenu;content=music/6cd.html).
However, this boxset is quite rare and expensive (it appears at eBay once in a while and can reach around $150!). This is the only source for the karaokes since there were no 3'' CD singles released with musics from the OVAs (that I know of).

If you are referring to the music playing in the background of the drama tracks, I don't know if they were released in the 6CD boxset (I'd have to check it by listening to all the music CDs  ^^; )

Ah, right, sounds like I don't stand much of a chance in getting hold of them. I don't suppose anyone knows of where I can get the music 'rips' mentioned on your link?

No... Sorry!  ^^;

But let me say that despite the price, the 6CD boxset does worth every penny, at least in my opinion.
If you like Karaoke/BGMs that and "Symphonic World" are the CDs to have.

Hey there, just to let people know someone politely uploaded it on another site:

Unfortunately it doesn't include all the music from the first OAV (6th disc) such as the music where Shayla Shayla tries to hit on Makoto but Nanami gets in the way, or Miz's introduction (the track I was really after).

*sigh* I guess there never will be a complete soundtrack. I hate it when videogames/ animes do that.

Yeah, I was annoyed about that too back in the day.  But I did find that if you have some method of splitting the audio channels of the OAV's 5.1 track, you can manage to get SOME of the music with minimum to no voice.  I forget which channels do what, but I was able to pull a few bits of otherwise unreleased music this way.  That only works in the original OAV since none of the others have 5.1 audio.  Also I think some of the music was recomposed for that release so it might differ slightly from the original.

Well, I never tried that with El-Hazard, but I know from experience that it may be the front center speaker that you need to cut out.
