Title: El-Hazard Online's Greatest Anime of All Time
Post by: Saucer on June 13, 2004, 06:34:15 pm
Now Presenting, El-Hazard Online's Greatest Anime of All Time, as selected by the members! Thank you all for participating. As noted previously, titles earned points according to how you ranked them. So, a title that was ran lower overall but selected by more people tended to rate higher. Though it shouldn't come as any suprise as to which titles made the top three (at least, I wasn't suprised). And now without further ado, your favorite anime....

Wow, variety.  Some day in the distant future whenever I make the "generic tidbits" type of site section (I was thinking little info-bits like character bios, stuff about the site, whatever) ... I should probably include this as a sort of community interest poll.

Wow. Only two of the ones in my top 10 made it into the top 10. :P

At least Grav still got somewhere.

Thanks, Saucer.  That's a nice presentation of the top ten.

I can't complain.  I got four matches in the top ten, and I'm interested in all ten of them, to varying degrees.

In response to overmaster's note regarding Saber Marionette J-- for what it's worth, after I sorted out my top ten, SMJ was my #11.

While I'm at it, I don't think anyone else had Fruits Basket, so I guess I'll plug it again.  Highly recommended.

Thanks guys. ^_^

Yeah, I regret not having a slot for Saber Marionette J. That show was top notch. So many great anime to choose from!

Hm, interesting results. I wish I had seen the voting topic... I would have loved to contribute my opinions.
I'm surprised Card Captor Sakura never made it on the list [unless it was and I overlooked it]. That show is truly a masterpiece... It has bits of everything. Hooray CLAMP.

The english version of CCS was messed up. They took out Touya and Yukito for godssake! ARGH! *cries*

Sorry. That was spam.

Card Captor Sakura is indeed a great show, though Nelvana did a lovely job of trying to fuck it up. Fortunately we also have the unbutchered, subtitled DVDs.  ^_^V

Yeah, but I want my unbutchered dubs! :bawl

Oh, well - not like I'd buy them if they did produce them, considering that I've already forked over the cash for the subtitled version. *Sighs* Oh, well.

If they ever get round to releasing the DVD's in this country of CCS, I think I'll buy the subbed version instead. :P I wanna see the original! I want my Touya/Julian!

Hmmmm.... This is the first time I've come across this. But my personal favorites from that list are the following:

El-Hazard(why else did I come here for?)
Tenchi Muyo! (from the creator of the one above)
Ranma 1/2 (this came first not Tenchi!)
Love Hina (gotta love Love Hina!)
Aa Megami-sama!/Oh My Goddess!
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Trigun
Azumanga Daioh
Inu-yasha
Crest/Banner of the Stars
Fruits Basket
Metropolis
Sakura Wars
Rurouni Kenshin(Samurai X to me!)
Chobits
You're Under Arrest!
Full Metal Panic (post 9/11?)

other personal favorites of mine that aren't in the list:
Card Captor Sakura
Dual!
Onegai Teacher
Mahoromatic
Pita Ten
Galaxy Angel
Yu Yu Hakusho(Ghost Fighter to me!)
Flame of Recca(I just love that Fuuko Kirisawa!)

Saw the first couple eps of Tylor.  Liked it.  I think Kathy's seen all of them; not sure about the remainder of the Showalter clan.

Nadia Secret of Blue Water is one of my all time favorites.  Got kinda campy in places, but the Gainax crowd just can't help themselves.  Even liked it better than Eva, having seen both--Nadia didn't get half as funky crazy weird as Eva did toward the end.

Plus Nemo's a dead ringer for Captain Gloval from the SDF-1.  Now THAT's "old school"!  ;)  I date myself there.

Well there is an awful lot of anime to choose from. ^^; Tylor did rank in.... at #15. And Monster was stil very new at the time this was done. Can't say I'm familair with My Hemi. Though I'm also suprised that Nadia didn't rank in. Even Gainax fanboys such as myself didn't vote for it.  :bawl

Although I didn't have the chance to vote, it actually turned out damn close to what I would have picked. The top 5 would have been the same, except I prolly would have flopped El Hazard and Tenchi Muyo, because TM was the first REAL anime I watched (after DBZ) and what really got me into the whole genre. Sentimental feelings, ya know.  :P ;D
