Title: Scrapped Princess
Post by: Saucer on July 28, 2003, 10:37:30 pm
In the spirit of starting threads inspired by other threads, who here has seen Scrapped Princess?

If you're a fan of fantasy anime, anime that are original and entertaining or just anime in general, I recommend this series highly. Pacific Cassul is the prophecised "Scrapped Princess," the one who will destroy the world when she turns 16. And so, she is thrown away at birth. Now, just months before her 16th birthday, she is on the run with her adopted older brother and sister through a medieval style world. It's an interesting, well animated series based on a popular fantasy manga. The series leaves you guessing though out, "where does this take place?" "what is the real time period?" what will happen next?" And, it almost always ends in a cliffhanger.

Scrapped Princess is currently airing on Japanese TV. It's also being fansubbed by AnimeJunkies and ANBU. Everyone I've talked to who has seen it becomes a fan almost instantly. I think most of you would enjoy it as well. All you'll need is the Bit Torrent Client (http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/download.html). Then, simply head on over to AnimeJunkies (http://www.animejunkies.com/torrent.shtml) to find the epsiodes (currenlty up to 15). New episode every week! I believe there will be 24 total.

24? *kablink*Are you sure it's not 26 if it's airing on Japanese TV? Cuz a single season is usually 13 eps, and a good bit of anime runs for two seasons... eh, well. Anyhow. :P

Actually, I was under the impression that 26 was a standard "season". Which, I think, would make better sense - that's half a year of new material, followed by half a year of reruns, for a weekly show. 13 episode series are relatively new.

But in any case, I've seen several shows that deviate from the 13/26 standard pattern. None come to mind offhand, but I know I've got a few 24-episode series even in my own personal anime collection.

As for Scrapped Princess, I've heard about this series, and even read an article on it in Newtype USA. If you wanna get the fansubs, better snap 'em up quick! This looks like a show that will probably be licensed in short order.

I have it, from a reliable source, that it's 24 eps. That seems to be a rather common thing these days. Alot of series were 26 episodes in the 80s and 90s (I'm not as incredibly well versed in pre-80s anime). But around the mid-90s you start to see series that are 25 episodes; Hyper Police, Maze, etc...... Now we're getting series that are 24 eps, like Love Hina (did they actually air ep 25?), X and Steel Angel Kurumi. Now, you even have series that are 18 eps, like Ghost in the Shell and Galaxy Angel Season Two. ^^;

And even the short series are getting shorter. Isn't Hand Maid May 11 episodes? (not including the video only ep)
