I watched the gameplay Trailer of Doom 3 and I was wondering if you guys love their graphics and their new engine they made and what not.

I saw screencaps awhile ago. Has that game shipped yet? I am so not keeping up with games these days. Anyway, I'll probably pick it up at some point. FPS are great. Doom was the shit, back in the day! Having to fight in pitch black rooms and stuff. That was fun.

Actually, Doom 3 was ready to ship more than a year ago. It's just that with the game so graphic-intensive, even the most sophisticated graphics card at the time could not possibly have run it. They decided to delay it until most home computers caught up, but this doesn't really seem wise since Half Life 2 is coming out this winter, and that blows away anything Doom 3 has going for it.

What makes it even worse is that the developers are refusing to put in an option to modify the graphical output fo the game. This means only high-end users can ever hope to play it. So either save up your pennies, or get Half Life 2.  :)

Which game console(s) did they port it to?

What, Half Life 2? Well, for now, it's an X-box exclusive title as well as a PC game.

Doom 3 is strictly PC, as there are no consoles today that can handle the graphics. Frankly, there aren't many PCs that can handle it either...

I should hope so. The damn thing weighs as much as a PC and monitor combined. ^^;

Well, I'm not sure about that ^_^; , but the graphix may be quite comparable. Although I think that PC will always have the better graphics, relying on their graphic cards.

It's surprising to me that an X-Box version is coming out, as in E3 John Carmack said that he wouldn't allow any changes to the graphical parts of the game. This meant only high-end, state-of-the-art PCs were capable of running the game.

Oh well, I guess time changes everything.

I bet Microsoft's mucho dineros helped that change along quite nicely though.
