This is the easiest way I can group all current contributers into one place and get your input.  I want every piece of El-Hazard trivia that a person should know to say that they are at least a general El-Hazard fan.

This will be put together as the El-Hazard Aptitude Test, or EHATs.  Passing this test automatically grants you Contributer status.

Then there ought to be a more advanced trivia one for MP3 access.

The goal of this is so I can do away with email verification which is really just a pain since I've become so busy lately.  :P  Email verification only works -sometimes-,  and I therefore have to check every member that joins.  This hopefully will also keep more newbies who might be scared off or too lazy to be a "contributer" by the typical status.

This forum should only be seen by current contributers, so no worries there.

The tests will be multiple choice so it can be auto-graded.  I'll probably even retain your percentage score for the hell of it.  There will be randomization of answers and questions and stuff.

Now, give me trivia.  I don't care how mundane.  :P  Even the mundane is important because I'll forget about it.

Just specify if it's simple or advanced.  And please provide the correct answer especially if it's obscure.  ;)

Any questions, ask in a seperate thread in this forum only.

After I think there's enough, I'll terminate this forum section.

The only real thing I am worried about, Bob, is that someone could just bang up a "cheat sheet" and just finish a test lickiety split, knowhutimean?

EDIT: "Rob" will now enforce that he is "Bob".  :P

Well probably, they'd research the problems, which makes them more involved into El-Hazard as far as I can tell..... Shouldn't be a problem.

One way to combat cheat sheets would be to randomize the questions. Or have a large cache of them and let the script choose a handful of em for each test generated.
We'll see how it goes  8)

Oh, yes, actually this is exactly what I planned.  I'd like a huge list of questions, but then you'll get like 30 or something.  Plus, of course, the test is handled completely server-side, so viewing HTML source should provide absolutely no hint.  (I'll figure out how the implementation would work later.)

Of course, there's no way to make it 100% cheat sheet proof.  Anyone could just sit there and document the answers to questions.  But I'd like to think if we had enough it'd only take a complete weenie to bother.  :P

Okay.  This isn't a good time, what with the end of the year holidays, and my completely slacking off on practically everything in my life again (the Round Robin excluded).  But I'll try to get back to you with some possibilities.

Can you use fan fiction questions?  It might be fair to ask a couple questions on El-Hazard: Earth or Shape Of Things To Come, for example.  Or Fault by Fish  ;D

Can you use Japanese language questions?  I dunno, maybe character's names, or place names, in Japanese, or something.

Heh.  "Provide six commonly accepted spellings for the new water priestess' name."   ::)

If one's gonna use Japaneese characters in their questions, they need the text files installed. I know I do because I play Maple Story. Besides, if you do install the Japaneese characters, it takes up 250MB of space and you can't remove it.

I dun think they mean to use actual Japanese characters, just Romanji.  8)
And Japanese text display support for Windows is only a 4 to 6mb download from Windows Update. Not a big install.  ^^; Of course, if you plan to write in Japanese, it's another story...

A.   10,000 years.

Well, if cheat sheets is all you're worried about, just take the questions and divy them into four or more tests, like the stipid drivers ed tests, so the test-ee will never know which he'll get. I think that would be easier to grade then the random questions, and if you update the tests every once and a while, it should have no problems.

Well, it's good you wrote "English" names.  This is a problem.  I know there are some Japanese purists who I fear might not be as familiar with the English names, and vice versa for "dub's good enough, no need subtitle" types.  Of course, I suppose any "real" El-Hazard fan should be familiar with both realms.  :P
