Welcome to El-Hazard: The Online Episode Guide. Inside this site you will find information relating to the 2 OAV's and 2 TV series' of the AIC series, El-Hazard. Me and Rob have gotten together to make this site because of the shocking lack of El-Hazard sites in general. After finding out we both had a strong interest in the animé (we already knew each other vaguely from the Sonic the Hedgehog community), we decided that we would have to do something about this and this site will (hopefully) be the finished result.

The forums are always available for discussion either on an El-Hazard point or a local site issue. I guarentee that me and Neil will always answer any threads as immediately as humanly possible.

The Magnificent World (OAV)

El Hazard The Magnificent World was an OAV series that began in the Spring of 1995. If you've NEVER seen El-Hazard, then my recommendation is the first one you look at be this one; ALL the other series with the exception of Alternative World are just spin-offs with redone (and not nearly as good) stories as the original. Alternative World is the sequel to Magnificent World, so the only reason not to start there is you'd be left in the middle of the story!

El-Hazard starts out with an oh-so-typical story of a Japanese high school student who suddenly gets involved in space/time travel, but from there unravels a brilliant plot involving war and great evils of a past technological society that managed to destroy itself. Since then, a new civilization has evolved, blissfully unaware of their own true heritage until it is too late. It gets used against them by an angry tribe of people living in El-Hazard who, after they had been dragged there unwillfully by the ancient civilization's greatest war toy, wish to destroy them all...

The Magnificent World 2 (OAV)

The sequel to the original Magnificent World, this one continues to give a small insight into the Earth People's adaption to life in El-Hazard. Makoto continues to work on finding some way back home, studying long with at the library with its limited and highly misunderstood documentations. Nanami has opened a resturaunt that serves Japanese food. With both the Phantom tribe and the Bugrom finally defeated, the world is again at a state of peace. Priestess Miz has finally gotten Fujisawa into a position for marriage (albeit not entirely of Fujisawa's consent).

When Fujisawa panics and runs from his own marriage, they oddball combination of Earth and El-Hazard crew get back together once again on a goal to find him, where they accidently tread upon yet another of the ancient society's dark secrets of evil. As well as two more of their hate-filled creations, that, when combined, form the ultimate tool of destruction.

The Alternative World (TV Series)

The final series ever made for the original El-Hazard chain, this one pits the Earth People, the priestesses (including the newly ordained water priestess Qawool), Groucho (Katsuo) the Bugrom and Jinnai into yet another world, the result of an incident regarding one of Makoto's home-travel attempt devices, the core of the Eye of God, from becoming activated and controlled by a persona from the ancient civilzation...

I'll note that while this is the last official series to have been produced for the main El-Hazard chain, it does not end the story. Whether this is due to loss of popularity of the show to the point of cancellation or if there simply was no further intent, Magnificent World 1 blantantly defines Makoto getting home, so we know it all ends well. All I can say is, I think this actually leaves a gateway to all of our imaginations, to travel as far and as high as we'd like.

The Wanderers (TV Series)

The TV series named "The Wanderers" of El Hazard began in October 1995. Even with the main characters for the OAV and TV series the same, and most of the basic background, this series doesn't flow quite the same as the previous three listed El-Hazard series! It's also interesting to point out it wraps everything up beginning to end.

Makoto is essentially a science geek who builds a device that, through Jinnai's tampering, suddenly sucks them all into El-Hazard. Fatora has ceased to exist, leaving Allielle open to ... wander.

This is often the only series I ever see make it into a typical video store, which means most people never see the OAV's. It's worth a few laughs, and does contain some universal El-Hazard goodness. But I still recommend everyone see the first OAV, if nothing else!

El-Hazard the Graphic Novel (Manga)

This Manga on El-Hazard is a post-production item, which is unusual since often animes are based on the mangas. The translation has been done by Viz Communications. The manga's plotline is again confusing, because the creators again refused to go on any particular continuity... in fact, they tried to go on BOTH, it seems. They took a little bit from both sides, then threw in their own ideas.

The mangas follow some of the better parts of OAV1, and adding a few extra tidbits to the story where some gaps existed (whether or not a person takes theses "gap-fillers" as "literal" is entirely up to the discretion him/her, of course!)

El-Hazard for the Sega Saturn

This title is practically mythical, something only noted in blurbs on "Engrish" sites. It seems some great El-Hazard fans don't even know it exists! The most I EVER saw after much time spent online searching was two screenshots, and a vague description.

For possibly the first time ever on an English site, I present to you this very interesting trinket of El-Hazard. It doesn't really have the makings of some revolutionary video game (and hardly used the Saturn's power), but for the sheer fact that it has an all-original soundtrack (being built in the Sound Track site section) and all original art even featuring a few interspersed fully animated scenes with 100% [Japanese] voicing throughout, it's almost a tragedy how it got lost in time!

El-Hazard the Original Sound Track

The wonderful original music of El-Hazard, so variant and it's got a good beat! Listen to as much of it as we can dig up and provide for you!

Or rather, how much Rob's wallet will shrink to get this stuff ;p

Japan-Only Rare Books

El-Hazard never got a lot of merchandise, but it certainly had a lot of publications. Most never make it out of Japan, however, and turn up as rare eBay finds. If I can obtain any, I'll scan it page-for-page and present it to you in full, since you may never see it yourself...

El-Hazard Goodies

El-Hazard Goodies is the place to find all the extras to add fun to your El-Hazard Experience ... or a place to store whatever doesn't fit into a category of its own. ;D
